Hien is also among the people with disabilities in the province who have been receiving attention and Tet support from both the government and social resources, helping make the holiday warmer and more meaningful.

People with disabilities receive Tet support from the budget

Currently, the province has more than 50,000 people with disabilities, including those with severe and extremely severe conditions. Most of them face hardships in daily life. This group remains a key focus of provincial support through policies on monthly allowances, healthcare assistance, and job-creation funding from the state budget.

During this Tet holiday, the province continues to provide care and support for people with disabilities. According to Resolution No. 26/2025/NQ-HDND dated December 10, 2025, which outlines eligible groups and support levels during the Lunar New Year in Dong Nai Province, resistance activists affected by chemical toxins who are receiving monthly allowances, children of resistance activists who themselves are affected by chemical toxins and are receiving monthly allowances, as well as individuals with occupational injury rates over 81 percent, are entitled to 1.2 million VND per person.

Among the more than 50,000 people with disabilities in the province, there are over 2,000 children with severe disabilities and more than 3,200 with extremely severe disabilities. During this Tet holiday, they are among the priority groups receiving Tet gift support from the provincial budget and social resources.

Specifically, individuals receiving regular social assistance in the community, and social protection beneficiaries at both public and non-public provincial social protection facilities licensed by the state, are supported with 720,000 VND per person. In addition, trade union members and workers suffering from occupational accidents or work-related illnesses are supported with 1 million VND.

Most of the cases receiving Tet support from the budget mentioned above are people with disabilities, severe disabilities, and extremely severe disabilities. Nguyen Thi Hien, a person with disabilities and an Agent Orange victim residing in Long Binh ward, said that this Tet, she is in the group receiving 1.2 million VND from the budget for children of resistance activists who are themselves infected with chemical toxins and receiving monthly allowances. Additionally, she has just received a gift worth 800,000 VND presented by the Dong Nai Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. This support is a great joy for her as the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 approaches.

Mobilizing community resources

Along with support from the state budget, during the Tet 2026, people with disabilities continue to receive care and support from the community through meaningful gifts.

Specifically, according to Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies Nguyen Sy Cuong, this Tet, the branch has allocated more than 1,000 gifts (500,000 VND per gift) to support people in difficult circumstances. Besides poor and near-poor households, the majority of cases receiving Tet gifts are people with disabilities and families with relatives who are people with disabilities.

Also, during this occasion, religious establishments have extended care to people with disabilities. Venerable Thich Hue Khai, Head of the Dong Nai Provincial Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, stated that as of now, Dong Nai Buddhism has contributed 2 billion VND to present Tet gifts to people in difficult circumstances, including many individuals with disabilities and families with disabled relatives. Dong Nai Buddhism hopes that its contributions will help people, including those with disabilities, have better conditions to celebrate Tet.

According to Mai Van Nho, Chairman of the Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, there are currently more than 13,000 Agent Orange victims in the province. Some families have between 2 and 5 members affected, each with different types of disabilities. This challenge places a significant economic burden on households with Agent Orange victims. In response, for Tet 2026, the Dong Nai Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin mobilized resources while also distributing nearly 1,900 gifts, each worth 800,000 VND, to support victims and their relatives in celebrating the spring and welcoming Tet.

In addition to gifts mobilized and allocated to communes and wards by provincial agencies and units, local mass organizations also proactively connected resources to help people with disabilities have better conditions to celebrate Tet. According to the Vice Chairman of the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Dong Tam Commune, Le Xuan Cuc, the commune has 26 Agent Orange victims. This Tet holiday, besides the gifts allocated by the Provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Commune Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin also mobilized to give additional gifts to all 26 Agent Orange victims.

Pham Thanh Trinh (residing in Dong Tien 3 Hamlet, Dong Tam Commune) stated that he is the second generation in his family affected by Agent Orange. The toxin caused muscle atrophy in both his legs, significantly impacting his employment and daily mobility. Therefore, he deeply appreciates the Tet gifts from the province and the commune.
