The Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Horse 2026 is fast approaching. At this time, various types of Tet flowers and ornamental plants have begun “flooding” many central streets across the province. Alongside this, various spring flower fairs have opened in different areas, welcoming locals and visitors who wish to browse and buy festive Tet decorations.

Flowers arrive early from various regions

According to observations at several spring flower fairs, since the 18th day of the 12th lunar month, traders have been busy transporting flowers and ornamental plants for display and sale. Popular varieties include apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums, kumquats, bougainvillea, and ornamental pomelos.

This year, traders are focusing more on affordable market segments with reasonable prices, offering smaller-sized plants rather than the large-scale varieties commonly seen in previous years. Apricot trees range from several hundred thousand to tens of millions of VND per tree; ornamental kumquats cost from several hundred thousand to around 3 million VND per pot; bougainvillea ranges from 500,000 to 2 million VND per tree; peach blossoms range from 1–2 million to tens of millions of VND per pot; while marigolds and cockscomb flowers are priced at about 200,000–300,000 VND per pair.

At the Spring Flower Fair at the Dong Nai Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion (Tan Trieu Ward), Pham Thanh Hung (Hong Viet Commune, Hung Yen Province) shared, “I brought peach blossom trees to sell at the fair starting on the 18th day of the 12th lunar month. This occasion is my sixth year of selling Tet peach blossoms in Dong Nai. This year, I brought around 600 trees, about the same as last year. Prices generally range from 1.5 to 6 million VND per tree, while cascading peach varieties, priced around 1 to 1.2 million VND each, are attracting a lot of interest.”

Similarly, Le Anh Quan (Dat Do Commune, Ho Chi Minh City) said he brought about 150 pairs of large-flowered chrysanthemums to the fair starting from the 20th day of the 12th lunar month, with many visitors coming to browse and inquire about prices.

At the Tam Hiep Ward Spring Flower Fair held at Duong Tu Giang Park, many traders arrived early to set up booths. Nguyen Hoang Minh, a gardener from Da Nang, noted that this year, he brought large-flowered chrysanthemums and ornamental kumquats to Dong Nai. Currently, large-sized ornamental kumquats are priced at approximately 1.8 million VND per pot, while large-flowered chrysanthemums range from 1.2-2.8 million VND per pair depending on the size...

Cao Thi Anh Tuyet, representative of Muoi Phong Lan Facility (Tran Bien Ward), said that Phalaenopsis orchids are currently priced at about 200,000–250,000 VND per plant. Orchid arrangements come in various sizes, with the 3–5 million VND price range receiving strong customer interest.

“The Spring Flower Fair at the Dong Nai Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion runs from the 19th to the afternoon of the 29th day of the 12th lunar month. The Organizing Committee will support traders and facilitate convenient access for buyers, while implementing traffic management, designated flower storage areas, and prohibiting street vendors at entrances and inside the fair”.

Market awaits buyers

Many gardeners and traders who brought goods early are now waiting expectantly, hoping for strong sales in the coming days, especially after the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month. The Tet flower market is forecast to peak between the 25th and 28th days of the 12th lunar month.

This year, demand is expected to fluctuate as consumers carefully balance budgets and prioritize reasonably priced plants. At the same time, the simultaneous organization of spring flower fairs across multiple localities creates more opportunities for residents to visit and purchase flowers at competitive prices.

Nguyen Thanh Loc (Vinh Thanh Commune, Vinh Long Province) said, “I brought about 80 carefully selected bougainvillea trees to the Dong Nai Spring Flower Fair, similar to last year, priced from 1–2 million VND each. Recently, most customers have come to check prices. I hope purchases will increase in the coming days”.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoang Minh, a gardener from Da Nang, shared that last year's weather conditions had a significant impact on flower cultivation. As a result, growers and traders had to carefully balance labor and transportation costs to ensure stable selling prices.

Alongside affordable ornamental plants and flowers, many gardeners and traders have brought large bonsai and uniquely shaped trees to spring flower fairs to promote their products, conduct business, and draw visitors to stop by and take photos.

Nguyen Pham Kinh Luan, a gardener from My Ngai Ward (Dong Thap Province), shared that this year he brought dozens of apricot blossom trees of various sizes to the Spring Flower Fair at the Dong Nai Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, with prices ranging from several million to tens of millions of VND per tree. Notably, he also showcased several oversized apricot trees, including a giant specimen valued at around VND 1.3 billion.
