To establish both theoretical and practical foundations for drafting a new resolution on tourism development, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee has issued Plan No. 85/KH-UBND dated February 11, 2026. The new resolution will replace Resolution No. 04-NQ/TU dated December 30, 2021, issued by the 11th Provincial Party Executive Committee for the 2020–2025 term. It aims to develop tourism into a key economic sector and to implement the Full-term Working Program of the Provincial Party Executive Committee (1st term), 2025–2030. Under the plan, a scientific workshop titled “Orientations for Tourism Development in Dong Nai Province in the New Context” will be organized. The workshop is expected to take place in the second half of March 2026.

According to the plan, the workshop aims to consult multidisciplinary and multisectoral experts to obtain diverse perspectives for a comprehensive identification of opportunities and challenges. Based on these inputs, it seeks to shape a new development path for Dong Nai's tourism industry in the context of expanded administrative boundaries and re-established development space. The workshop also considers the operation of the two-tier local administration model and the role of Long Thanh International Airport as a nucleus for stimulating tourism demand across the Southeast region.

The workshop will also focus on comprehensively restructuring Dong Nai’s tourism ecosystem, covering spatial planning, product development, markets, technology, resources, and governance mechanisms. The goal is to lay a foundation for tourism development oriented toward green transformation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth. The event is expected to put forward feasible solutions that align with existing resources and strengths, providing strategic guidance for tourism development in the 2026–2030 period. These proposals will also serve as a basis for advising the Provincial Party Committee on issuing a new resolution to develop tourism into a key economic sector.

In 2026, Dong Nai province aims to welcome approximately 5.8 million visitors, an increase of 11.5 percent compared to 2025. Revenue from tourism services is projected to reach around VND 4.5 trillion, up 15.3 percent from 2025.
