On February 11, according to the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, the Government Office issued a document to the Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province. It conveyed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha’s directive regarding the assignment of the lead agency for the Tan Hien Bridge Construction Project connecting Dong Nai province with Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, after considering the proposal of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha agreed to assign the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee as the lead agency to implement the Tan Hien Bridge Construction Project. The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee is required to implement the project in compliance with regulations on public investment, the state budget, and relevant legal provisions, ensuring transparency and preventing corruption, waste, or loss of state assets and funds.

To strengthen transport connectivity between the two localities as well as across the Southeast region, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province have agreed to invest in eight road bridge projects, namely Cat Lai, Long Hung, Phu My 2, Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, Tan Hien, Tan An, and Xom La. Among these, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee serves as the lead agency for the Cat Lai Bridge and Long Hung Bridge projects, while the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee acts as the lead agency for the Phu My 2 Bridge Project.

For the Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, Tan Hien, Tan An, and Xom La bridge projects, the former Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee and the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee previously agreed in principle to conduct research and implementation. Accordingly, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee will launch the construction of Xom La Bridge and Tan Hien Bridge, while the former Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee will be in charge of the construction of Hieu Liem 2 Bridge, Thanh Hoi 2 Bridge, and Tan An Bridge. Notably, the Prime Minister has already assigned the Hieu Liem 2 Bridge Construction Project to the former Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee for implementation. In mid-January 2026, groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the Cat Lai, Long Hung, and Phu My 2 bridge projects by Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Tan Hien Bridge Project will span the Dong Nai River, connecting Thuong Tan Commune (Ho Chi Minh City) with Tan Trieu Ward (Dong Nai). According to the planning scheme, the bridge will feature four motor-vehicle lanes and two lanes for non-motorized vehicles.
