After many years of waiting, key transport infrastructure projects in Bien Hoa City are now nearing completion and are about to be put into operation.
These projects not only improve traffic connectivity but also shape the city’s urban landscape and open new development spaces in Bien Hoa, especially along the Dong Nai River.
Unblocking the infrastructure connection network
Today (February 3), the Thong Nhat Bridge component of the Bien Hoa Central Axis Road Project (located in Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai Province) was officially opened to technical traffic. This is one of the most critical components of the Bien Hoa Central Axis Road Project, a flagship infrastructure project of Dong Nai Province.
Thong Nhat Bridge, with 6 to 10 lanes and a width of 45 to 95 meters, began construction in early 2023. According to the original plan, the bridge was expected to be completed in early 2025. However, delays in land clearance extended the project timeline.
As a result, the technical opening of the bridge in early 2026 marks a significant milestone in completing this component and moving forward with the overall Bien Hoa Central Axis Road Project, which is slated for completion in the early months of 2026.

Earlier, in January 2026, during an on-site inspection, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Ha urged investors and contractors to accelerate construction to open the entire central axis road project before the Lunar New Year 2026.
Bien Hoa is the central urban hub of Dong Nai Province. In recent years, many major infrastructure projects, particularly in transportation, have been implemented. However, due to various challenges, especially difficulties in site clearance, most projects have experienced delays.
Recognizing that land clearance is the decisive factor affecting project progress, local authorities and relevant agencies have recently intensified efforts to resolve these issues. As a result, land-related bottlenecks have been gradually removed, allowing project timelines to accelerate.
Before the Thong Nhat Bridge, two other major transport infrastructure projects in Bien Hoa had already been technically opened: the Dong Nai Riverside Road and Huong Lo 2 Road (Section 1, Phase 1).
Expanding Development Space
The Bien Hoa Central Axis Road Project spans more than 5.4 kilometers and consists of two branches. Branch 1 begins at Vo Thi Sau Street and ends at Dang Van Tron Street (An Hao Bridge intersection), stretching over 3.7 kilometers. This branch includes the construction of the Thong Nhat Bridge and the Vam Ong An Bridge. Branch 2 starts at the roundabout connecting with Branch 1 and ends at Dang Van Tron Street (near the Buu Hoa Bridge access road), measuring over 1.7 kilometers. Thong Nhat Bridge, crossing the Cai River, plays a crucial role in linking Bien Hoa’s city center with Hiep Hoa Islet.
In Bien Hoa’s urban development planning, the Dong Nai River is identified as the city’s primary landscape axis and a key driver of growth. Dr. architect Phan Dang Son, President of the Vietnam Association of Architects, noted that positioning the Dong Nai River as the core axis of Bien Hoa is a correct and strategic decision, aligned with the city’s transition toward a green, innovative, and sustainable urban model.
On February 3, in celebration of the 96th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2026), Dong Nai Province also held several major events alongside the technical opening of Thong Nhat Bridge. These included: the groundbreaking ceremony for a high-tech livestock farming zone in Thuan Loi Commune; the launch of construction for Tin Nghia Primary School in Binh Loc Ward; the start of the Cai River Riverside Road project (in Tran Bien and Tam Hiep Wards); the technical opening of the Ring Road 1 – Long Khanh Project.
With this orientation, most key transport infrastructure projects in Bien Hoa in recent years have focused on unlocking the potential and advantages of the Dong Nai River. Among them, the Dong Nai Riverside Road Project, technically opened in mid-January 2026, will serve as the first segment of a future riverside boulevard.
According to the proposal, the riverside boulevard will connect Bien Hoa City to Nhon Trach City along the river, serving as the central axis for the development of riverside urban and service zones. Meanwhile, once fully completed, Huong Lo 2 Road will not only enhance traffic connectivity between Bien Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City but also play a key role in the development of urban and service areas along the Dong Nai River in the southern part of Bien Hoa.
