In the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Horse, after the merger, Dong Nai province has 8 communes in the border area with about 35,000 households and over 135,000 people, many of whom are still in difficult circumstances. To help the people here have a warm spring and a full Tet, all levels and sectors in the province have many activities to bring spring to the border, caring for border residents to celebrate a warm Tet...

Warm Tet for border villagers

One of the prominent activities that has become a "specialty" every spring is the "Spring Border Guard-Warming the Hearts of Border Villagers" program. The program is organized annually by the Border Guard to bring Tet early to border residents, especially in the 2026 Tet holiday.

According to Colonel Pham Van Dang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, the "Spring Border Guard-Warming the Hearts of Border Villagers" program was launched in late January 2026 in some border communes in the province. Among them, the program chosen as a pilot in Tan Tien commune was truly meaningful for those present, especially ethnic minorities in the border region.

"The program has brought loving spring and Tet of reunion to the people in the border areas, contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare policies, helping disadvantaged people celebrate a warm spring. Through that, the program continues to promote the role of the people in joining the Border Guard to protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and border security; actively providing information, coordinating in the fight against all types of crimes, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the border area. The program is also one of the important solutions to consolidate the "all-people border defense posture" associated with a solid "people's hearts and minds posture", creating a foundation for the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard to successfully complete its core and specialized tasks in managing and firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security in the new situation," emphasized Colonel Pham Van Dang.

Kha Thi Thu (residing in Tan Hoa hamlet, Tan Tien commune) shared: "Attending the "Spring Border Guard-Warming the Hearts of Border Villagers" organized in the commune, I received gifts and money. These meaningful gifts will help my family and many other disadvantaged people here celebrate a warm spring"...

In the program, ethnic minorities in Tan Tien commune and other border communes, along with functional forces, actively participated in meaningful activities such as: tug-of-war, sack race, folk games like blindfolded pot smashing, choosing goods at zero- VND stalls... All aimed at caring for and providing more resources for people in border communes to have a warmer spring, and together firmly protect the country's border areas...

Highlight of the Border Spring Program

In the first year after the merger, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province successfully organized the Border Spring Program with many practical activities, mobilizing a total resource of nearly 4 billion VND to care for Tet for border residents and functional forces.

The Border Spring program had many meaningful activities such as: visiting the Exhibition of Dong Nai Province's Development Achievements in 2025; watching stone musical instrument performances; cultural and artistic exchanges, bamboo dancing, tug-of-war, watching and receiving calligraphy paintings, especially presenting hundreds of meaningful gifts, one thousand green chung cakes to Border Guard officers and soldiers and people in border communes.

The program has profound political and humanistic significance, demonstrating the concern of the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Nai province for officers, soldiers, and people living and working in the front lines of the Fatherland's border. Through this, it contributes to consolidating the great national unity bloc strengthening the close relationship between the military and the people, creating a joyful, enthusiastic, united, and trusting atmosphere among cadres, party members, armed forces, and people in the border areas to welcome a warm and meaningful spring together.

Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut stated: Border Spring, with its many meaningful activities, is an occasion for provincial leaders to meet, visit, and encourage cadres, soldiers, and people in the border region; demonstrating the deep affection, responsibility, and gratitude of the Party Committee, government, and people towards the soldiers, especially the Border Guard, who are day and night firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut said: With the solidarity and consensus of the entire political system and all people, the province's socio-economic growth in 2025 reached a high of 9.63%, leading the Southeast region; budget revenue for the first time exceeded 100 trillion VND; the economic scale continued to expand, attracting positive domestic and foreign investment; national defense and security were maintained, and national borders were preserved intact. These results were significantly contributed by the compatriots and people of the border localities, the Border Guard, party committees, authorities, and people of all ethnic groups in the province, especially the 8 border communes that have always been closely associated with and accompanied the armed forces at the forefront of the Fatherland.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed: Ethnic minorities in the province, the forces, directly the Border Guard, and the people of the 8 border communes continue to raise their vigilance, firmly hold their weapons, and protect territorial integrity; helping the people in the border areas develop their economy and improve their quality of life. Party committees, authorities, and people of the localities continue to care for and do a good job of social welfare so that everyone, every household, can celebrate Tet.

Joining the 2026 Border Spring program, Dieu Lom (residing in Bu Bung village, Dak O commune) happily expressed: "The gifts, money, and green chung cake presented by the organizing committee will help my family celebrate Tet more fully. The ethnic minorities in the border area thank the Party, State, military, and Border Guard for bringing a warm Tet and a reunion Spring to the ethnic minorities in the border region."

Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Dien, Head of Dak O Border Post, Provincial Border Guard, was moved to thank the provincial leadership for their attention and pledged to work with the cadres and soldiers of Dak O Border Post in particular, and the border posts under the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard in general, to always be united, consistent, promote the heroic traditions of the military and the Border Guard force, proactively overcome difficulties, and resolutely protect national sovereignty and border security.

"We fully grasp the directives of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, strictly maintain and successfully complete combat readiness tasks, effectively promote the role of the core and specialized force in managing and safely protecting border lines and national boundary markers, effectively combating all types of crime; participating, advising, and coordinating with local party committees and authorities to build political bases, develop economy, culture, and society, consolidate national defense and security, build an increasingly strong all-people border defense; effectively implementing social welfare work through movements, programs, and models to help people alleviate hunger and reduce poverty, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people in the border areas."

It can be affirmed that programs such as: "Border Guard Spring- Warming the Hearts of Villagers," "Border Spring," "Military-Civilian Tet," etc., have been continuously organized these days, continue to be practical activities for ethnic minorities in the border region and the armed forces to welcome a warm spring. This helps firmly consolidate the "people's hearts and minds posture” alongside functional forces, directly the Border Guard, to firmly protect the Fatherland's border regions.

Implementing the Border Guard Spring- Warming the Hearts of Villagers" program for the 2026 Tet, from various resources and mobilization, the provincial Border Guard units have presented over 5,000 gift packages (averaging 500,000 VND each) to ethnic minorities in the border region and cadres and soldiers facing difficulties to celebrate spring and Tet.
