Diverse categories and designs
The goods market for Tet holiday has entered its peak season. This year's Tet market is diverse in categories, designs and price points, catering to both individual shoppers and businesses placing large orders. Notably, made-in Vietnam products are increasingly chosen by consumers as gifts because of their improved quality, modern styles, unique designs and marketing approaches, as well as vibrant Tet-themed colors.
According to Nguyen Quoc Minh, Director of Co.opmart Dong Xoai (in Binh Phuoc Ward), in preparation for the upcoming Tet holiday, the supermarket has proactively increased its inventory by 35-40% across strategic product groups, particularly essential food and staple items. Notably, more than 90% of Tet goods are domestically produced, with a focus on high-quality Vietnamese goods, OCOP (One Commune, One Product) items, VietGAP-certified goods, and safe farm produce.
The flexible combination of in-store shopping and online purchasing channels has also helped consumers access goods more conveniently, offering a wide range of price segments to suit different spending needs.
The supermarket is implementing promotional programmes for more than 2,600 essential products. Discount campaigns are being rolled out in phases in line with consumer demand, with higher incentives to be offered in the days leading up to Tet. The supermarket is currently prioritising items for home renovation, household living and kitchen use. During the first 15 days of the twelfth lunar month, promotions will focus on beverages, dried foods, cakes and candied fruits. In the final 15 days, the supermarket will concentrate on fresh produce such as vegetables, tubers and fruits, as well as meat, poultry, eggs, rice, beans and glutinous rice, Nguyen Quoc Minh added.
A survey of supermarkets, including Co.opmart, GO!, Lotte Mart, and MM Mega Market across the province, shows that domestically produced Tet gift hampers typically include items such as cakes, confectionery, candied fruits, beer, wine, tea, coffee, dried foods and packaged foods. Prices commonly range from 200,000 VND to 1.5 million VND per hamper, depending on the contents. Many supermarkets are also offering attractive promotions and high discounts for bulk purchases.
Le Duc Thuan, Director of Lotte Mart Dong Nai (in Long Binh Ward), noted that among most Tet goods on sale at the supermarket this year, its priorities will be given to essential daily-use items and health-enhancing products. Supply volumes are carefully balanced to ensure sufficient availability to meet consumer demand during Tet. At the same time, the supermarket strengthens quality control during the peak shopping period. Key product groups receiving additional focus include Vietnamese steamed pork sausage, melon seeds, sunflower seeds, confectionery, soft drinks, various types of beer and other daily necessities.
Including Vietnamese and OCOP products in Tet gift hampers
Retail systems and units in Dong Nai have proactively introduced a wide range of Tet gift hampers to the market, including hampers featuring local specialties, Vietnamese products and OCOP items. These products ensure quality, affordable prices, and increasingly eye-catching designs and packaging to appeal to consumers.
Nguyen Ky Hiep, Director of MM Mega Market Bien Hoa Supermarket (in Tran Bien Ward), said the supermarket launched its Tet gift hamper sales area early, offering a variety of designs, categories and price segments. Many hampers featuring specialties, agricultural products, and Vietnamese goods are attractively designed and competitively priced, and those with prices ranging from 300,000 VND to 1 million VND per basket are particularly popular. The supermarket is currently running special promotions with incentives ranging from 50,000 VND to 400,000 VND, depending on the value of hamper orders priced between 1.5 million VND and 5 million VND.
The supermarket is offering a special discount programme with savings of up to 15% on Tet gift hampers, with the discount applied directly to the order. Tet hampers featuring Vietnamese goods and locally produced OCOP items are attracting strong interest from consumers.

Nguyen Quoc Minh added that Co.opmart Dong Xoai is currently rolling out its Tet gift hamper collection, featuring 25 gift hamper designs priced from 99,000 VND to 1.4 million VND. Customised hampers are also available, with discounts of up to 15% for orders valued at 5 million VND or more. This year, the Tet hamper catalogue across the Saigon Co.op system in general, and at Co.opmart Dong Xoai in particular, has been refreshed with a focus on “green - healthy - practical” spirit, spanning multiple market segments. These range from affordable Co.op-branded hampers designed to support Tet care programmes for workers, to premium traditional gift hampers, OCOP products and green Tet gift hampers featuring safe Vietnamese fruits and agricultural produce.
Bao Nhien, a resident of Trang Dai Ward, shared: “I have been exploring Tet gift hampers to buy for my relatives and friends. This year, many suppliers and supermarket systems are offering hampers featuring OCOP products and local specialties with eye-catching designs and reasonable prices. This provides customers with more choices and helps purely Vietnamese gift hampers strengthen their competitiveness against imported gift baskets.
