Stepping up green, sustainable tourism development linked to local identity

On the afternoon of January 9, at the Dong Nai Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center (Tan Trieu Ward), a conference was held to review the performance of the culture, sports and tourism sector in 2025 and to roll out tasks for 2026.

Attending the conference were Nguyen Huu Dat, Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Thi Hoang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee; Le Thi Ngoc Loan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Dong Nai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Nguyen Thi Loan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation; along with leaders of departments, agencies and units under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism effectively implemented communication campaigns for national and provincial holidays, anniversaries, and political events. It also successfully organized cultural, sports, tourism, press, and publishing activities, thereby effectively supporting political tasks and serving the public.

In 2025, the total number of visitors to Dong Nai exceeded 5.2 million (reaching 100.12% of the annual target), including more than 139,000 international visitors. Tourism revenue surpassed VND 3.9 trillion (reaching 100.9% of the target). In the field of sports, provincial teams participated in 202 domestic and international competitions, winning more than 1,500 medals.

For 2026, the culture, sports and tourism sector has set out several key tasks. These include advising on the formulation and implementation of a resolution on the development of culture and people of Dong Nai; implementing the National Target Program on cultural development for the 2025–2035 period, with a focus on concentrated and prioritized investment of resources; and advising on the formulation and implementation of a resolution on developing tourism into an important economic sector.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang commended the achievements attained by the provincial culture, sports and tourism sector over the past year; at the same time, she requested that in 2026 the sector proactively coordinate with departments, agencies and localities to implement the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term.

In addition, the sector will continue implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development; advise the Provincial People’s Committee on issuing state management documents in the fields of culture, sports, tourism, press and publishing in the province; and promote the development of tourism in a professional, green and sustainable manner, closely linked to local interests and distinctive identity.

At the conference, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism launched the emulation movement for 2026 and presented certificates of merit from the Provincial People’s Committee to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in culture, sports, and tourism, as well as to athletes and coaches with excellent performances at international sports competitions.
