In recent times, Long Thanh Commune has actively promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation in production, business and trade, contributing to the development of the grassroots-level digital economy. In particular, the commune has focused on expanding digital payment channels across various sectors, particularly trade and services, to accelerate local digital transformation.

Strengthening communication channels

Currently, Long Thanh Commune has three traditional markets in operation, including one Grade I market (Long Thanh Market) and two Grade III markets (Long An Market and Binh Son Market). In addition, the area houses a supermarket as well as chains of convenience stores and specialised retail outlets.

According to the Long Thanh Commune People’s Committee, the commune currently has 27 community digital technology teams. These teams are assigned to specific hamlets and residential areas and hold regular monthly activities, integrated into local community meetings, to share experience and provide hands-on guidance on digital skills. Their activities include assisting residents in installing and using online payment applications.

The commune also coordinates with telecommunications enterprises such as VNPT and Viettel to organise guidance sessions at 27 hamlet cultural houses, helping residents use digital signatures, online public administrative services, electronic payments, electronic identification applications, and participate in e-commerce platforms.

Notably, the commune has proactively reviewed and replicated the cashless payment model at traditional markets, shops, and business establishments across the area, encouraging traders and business households to use QR codes for payments via banks, e-wallets, VNPT Money and Viettel Money.

Lang Hoai Chau, Deputy Head of the Long Thanh Commune Economic Division, said that an increasing number of traders and business households are showing interest in cashless payment methods, particularly QR code payments. The locality will continue to strengthen communication and information channels, update digital payment utilities, and guide traders and business households in using online payment platforms, thereby promoting modern and civilised consumption trends. Cashless payments bring significant benefits to residents and contribute to the development of the local digital economy and digital society.

According to the Long Thanh Commune People’s Committee, by the end of 2025, more than 70 percent of business households in the commune had adopted electronic payment methods. Many local agricultural and OCOP products have been promoted and sold through e-commerce platforms, helping to expand markets and increase income and product value for local residents.

Pham Duc Nam, Head of the Long Thanh Market Management Board, noted that in recent times, the market has coordinated with local authorities, relevant units, and banks to intensify communication and support for traders in installing and using cashless payment applications and QR code payment methods. To date, around 70 percent of traders at Long Thanh Market have installed and are using cashless payment applications.

Expanding digital utilities for residents and business households

Cashless payment activities are becoming increasingly common. The development of digital banking services is considered one of the key utilities that have contributed to the expansion and implementation of the cashless payment scheme in the commune.

Nguyen Huu Thien, a footwear trader at Long Thanh Market, said that his stall has been using QR code cashless payments for more than half a year. The adoption of digital payment channels has improved transparency in cash flow, enabled faster, more convenient payments for customers, and reduced risks compared to cash transactions.

Ngoc Lan, a resident of Cau Xeo Hamlet in Long Thanh Commune, shared that she frequently uses digital payment channels due to their convenience and promotional benefits. Recently, the rollout of online payment channels and the promotion of cashless payments have been implemented in a relatively synchronised manner at markets and many shops in the locality. This has made it easier for residents to use online payment methods and improved the effectiveness of local digital transformation efforts.

In December 2025, at Long Thanh Market, the Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade organised the 2025 Dong Nai Province Cashless Payment Fair, combined with livestreaming activities to promote and sell products online.

Tran Duong Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the fair was an important event within a series of well-prepared activities carried out over several months. These included surveys, the development of merchant data, support for creating digital payment accounts, QR codes and electronic profiles, as well as training sessions on livestreaming skills, packaging and delivery. All these efforts aimed to equip business households with the most practical tools to enter the digital business environment.
