Duc began growing durian in 2017. Based on advice from experienced growers and through hands-on learning, he selected seed-durian plants for nursery cultivation. After about one year of growth, the trees were grafted with two Ri6 durian varieties. With three trunks and three root systems drawing nutrients, the trees grow faster, are more resilient, and are less likely to be damaged by strong winds and storms, thereby reducing losses caused by natural disasters. Starting from a small area and encouraged by positive results, Duc expanded his orchard to 3.5 hectares through grafting. He also applies low-cost, eco-friendly farming practices, including on-farm fertilizer production and reduced use of chemical fertilizers.

Within Duc’s 3.5-hectare growing area of durian trees, about 0.75 hectares have been bearing fruit for four years, with yields around 1.5 times higher than those of conventional orchards. The remaining area includes young fruiting trees and newly planted trees. For the 2024–2025 season, Duc estimates revenue of about VND 510 million per hectare, with net profit of roughly VND 340 million per hectare after deducting costs. As the remaining trees mature and productivity increases, income is expected to rise further in the coming years.
