Currently, prices of key livestock products in the province, such as poultry and pork, are rising. This rise is driven by increased year-end market demand, while disease outbreaks and recent natural disasters have significantly impacted supply.

Livestock farmers expect the year-end production season to bring good profits, as market demand for livestock products continues to rise, especially during the peak period of Tet (Lunar New Year) 2026.
Market showing positive signs
Recently, livestock products such as poultry meat and pork have risen sharply compared to a month ago. Specifically, live hog prices are currently ranging from 59,000 to 60,000 VND per kilogram, an increase of about 5,000 VND per kilogram compared to the previous month. Prices of industrial white chickens range from 33,000–36,000 VND per kilogram; free-range native chickens raised in industrial systems are priced at 55,000–65,000 VND per kilogram; while traditional free-range native chickens range from 80,000–90,000 VND per kilogram. Among these, poultry products are recording higher price increases than other livestock products.
Mach Chi Hung, a farmer raising free-range native chickens in Cam My Commune, said that over the past month, prices of free-range native chickens, especially caponized roosters, have risen significantly. Specifically, farm-gate prices for free-range native chickens are currently at 80,000–90,000 VND per kilogram, representing an increase of approximately 10,000 VND per kilogram compared to last month. In particular, caponized roosters are now priced at 120,000–130,000 VND per kilogram, whereas last year, even at the peak of the Lunar New Year season, they sold for only 100,000 VND per kilogram. At these price levels, livestock farmers are earning lucrative profits.
At present, the province’s total hog herd stands at nearly 4.2 million head. The total poultry population is approximately 36.5 million birds, comprising almost 33.3 million chickens. With the current herd size, the provincial livestock sector is ensuring an abundant supply of products for the year-end consumer market.

According to owners of industrial chicken farms, the selling prices of industrial chickens are currently fluctuating daily in line with the upward trend. At certain times, market prices have reached 38,000 VND per kilogram. At this price level, farms applying high technology to reduce production costs while maintaining good productivity can achieve profits of several tens of thousands of dong per kilogram.
Nguyen Thi Hien, owner of a hog farm in Xuan Loc Commune, stated that in recent months, African swine fever had become increasingly complicated. Meanwhile, live hog prices had fallen sharply, causing difficulties for farmers. Many small-scale households, fearing losses, reduced their herd sizes. However, live hog prices have now gradually recovered to a level that allows farmers to make a profit. “We expect the live hog market to continue improving, especially during the peak Lunar New Year 2026 season, so farmers can earn profits to offset the recent difficult period”.
According to many livestock farmers in the province, the recent sharp increase in livestock product prices is primarily due to strong market demand. In the meantime, supply has declined compared to previous years, primarily due to disease outbreaks and natural disasters. Farmers across the province are hopeful that prices will continue to hold their upward momentum during the peak of the Lunar New Year 2026 market.
Strong development opportunities for poultry farming
Poultry farming is seeing strong development opportunities and is being prioritized for investment by many localities in the coming period.
Ho Le Minh, an officer of the Farmers’ Association in Tan Hung Commune, shared that livestock farming is a local strength, especially the development of both broiler and layer chicken flocks. Accordingly, the locality pays great attention to supporting farmers in connecting and expanding consumption markets to ensure more sustainable outlets for livestock products. For this reason, local authorities have supported farmers in establishing cooperatives to link livestock producers in both production and consumption.
According to the Vietnam Poultry Association, the current production capacity of enterprises and farming households is sufficient to meet year-end consumption demand, even during the peak of the Lunar New Year 2026 period. In addition, exports of eggs and chicken meat have shown promising signs. In the third quarter of 2025 alone, Vietnam exported around 15 million chicks and nearly 4 million broiler chickens to Cambodia. Many enterprises have signed contracts to export eggs and chicken meat to the neighboring country through the end of the first quarter of 2026. This occasion presents an opportunity for the poultry industry to continue growing strongly in the coming period.
Le Van Quyet, Director of Long Thanh Phat High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative (Long Thanh Commune), the cooperative with the largest industrial chicken farming scale in Vietnam, commented that over the past two years, prices of industrial chicken products sold on the market have remained consistently high. Market outlets for white broiler chickens are consistently ensured, as industrial chicken meat products not only supply the domestic market but are also exported to international markets. Opportunities for developing white broiler farming remain tremendous, as consumption potential in both domestic and export markets is showing strong growth.
