Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Health Vo Thi Ngoc Lam said the province’s sex ratio at birth reached 108 boys per 100 girls, meeting the planned target. This outcome stems from sustained efforts to control sex imbalance at birth, strengthen gender-equality communication, conduct training sessions in schools and residential areas, and promote the effectiveness of support models for women and girls.
Other indicators met or exceeded the planned targets. The rate of prenatal screening reached 78 percent, surpassing the target. The rates of premarital counseling and health check-ups, as well as periodic health examinations for older people, also met their goals. The total number of people using modern contraceptive methods exceeded 370,000, reaching 118 percent of the plan.
In 2025, population communication activities were carried out extensively, with over 800 conferences held at the grassroots level. In addition, numerous reports published in the press, on social media, and through commune and ward radio systems received strong public attention. Programs on elderly healthcare, population quality improvement, and prenatal and newborn screening continued to be maintained, helping detect hundreds of cases at risk of abnormalities at an early stage.
Alongside the progress made, Dong Nai’s population work is also facing significant challenges. In 2025, the province recorded more than 43,100 births, a decrease of over 5,600 compared to 2024, reflecting a continued trend of low fertility rates. At the same time, the population is aging rapidly, with a rising number of elderly seniors. Therefore, more feasible policies are needed to promote childbirth and ensure population quality in the future.
