On December 19, at the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Center in Long Thanh Commune, Dong Nai Province, the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) held a ceremony to unveil a commemorative project plaque and announce the components deemed qualified for technical operations under Component Project 2, which covers air traffic management facilities, of Phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport Project. Attending the ceremony was Politburo Member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh.

At the ceremony, VATM announced the components of the air traffic management project that have been qualified for technical operations, marking the completion of critical preparatory steps in the air traffic control infrastructure for Long Thanh Airport.

Accordingly, the key air traffic management facilities and systems under Component Project 2 have been completed, including construction, installation, inspection, and testing, fully meeting the technical, safety, and operational requirements set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
To date, the project’s basic construction works have been completed, and essential technical systems serving flight operations, such as surveillance radar, surface surveillance, part of the A-SMGCS system, ADS-B, communication, navigation, meteorological systems, and the VOR/DME navigation aid, have been trial-operated, accepted, and met technical requirements. These systems are ready to operate in synchronization with the Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center, ensuring continuity in the air traffic management chain.

Component Project 2 of the Long Thanh Airport Project comprises five groups of works: the Air Traffic Control Tower and auxiliary facilities (ATCT); Primary/Secondary Surveillance Radar and Radio Transmitter Station (PSR/SSR/Tx); Radio Receiver Station and Dependent Surveillance Station (Rx/ADS-B); Weather Radar Station (WR); and the Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Range and Distance Measuring Equipment (DVOR/DME). Among these, the air traffic control tower is the central structure, standing 123 meters tall and designed in the shape of a lotus bud, harmonizing with the overall architecture of the airport.

Also at the ceremony, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam announced the Operating License for the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Center facility, along with operating licenses for technical systems and equipment ensuring flight operations for several key technical systems of the project, officially confirming the readiness level of the air traffic management system at Long Thanh Airport.
