Tan Quan Commune was formed through the merger of four communes: Quang Minh, Tan Quan, Phuoc An, and Tan Loi. In line with the country's and Dong Nai province's development momentum, Tan Quan is making daily efforts to advance, aiming for a better and happier life for all its residents.

Proud of revolutionary tradition

According to Tran Minh Trong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Tan Quan Commune Party Committee, Tan Quan is a land rich in revolutionary tradition. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the area welcomed settlers from Gia Dinh, Bien Hoa, Thu Dau Mot, and several northern and central provinces to reclaim land and establish villages, transforming the once wild land into a place to live and work alongside the local S’tieng and Khmer communities, as well as rubber plantation workers.

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the ethnic communities of Tan Quan Commune, driven by deep patriotism and a resolute, indomitable spirit, courageously fought alongside revolutionary forces to defend their homeland and the nation. Locations such as Tong Cui, Bo Com, and Nui Gio were once sources of terror for foreign invaders. In particular, the heroic struggle and sacrifices of workers at the Xa Trach and Quan Loi rubber plantations, along with the once-renowned Soc Tranh guerrillas, have become "red addresses" honored by the local people.

Currently, the whole Tan Quan commune has 17 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 247 martyrs, and the former communes of Phuoc An and Tan Loi have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.

The tradition of patriotism, indomitable will, and the spirit of solidarity among the people has become a source of strength, an internal resource, and a powerful driving force for Tan Quan as it enters a new period of development with pride and confidence.

Following the merger, Tan Quan Commune holds significant advantages in terms of geographic location. The commune has a large land fund, a young population, and an abundant labor force; it also features specialized agricultural zones, long-term industrial crops, and strong potential for developing the service and trade sectors. Currently, the commune is focusing on developing high-tech agriculture in conjunction with the OCOP program (One Commune, One Product) and community-based tourism. It is also working to attract investment in agricultural processing, renewable energy, residential areas, and new urban developments.

In addition, the commune hosts the Phuoc An Industrial Cluster, covering 75 hectares, and around 40 hectares of land owned by Union Trading Co., Ltd. (Ho Chi Minh City), which is used for high-tech agricultural production.

In recent times, under the leadership and management of the Party Committee and local authorities, and with the united efforts of the people, Tan Quan has achieved positive developments across various sectors.

Bui Van Thieng, Secretary of the Xa Trach Soc Hamlet Party Cell, shared enthusiastically that the hamlet is home to 127 households and nearly 700 residents, with over 57% of the population belonging to the Stieng ethnic group. Most residents work in agriculture, in provincial industrial zones, or as workers on rubber plantations. Currently, there are no households in poverty in the hamlet, and many families have moderate to high incomes.

Aspiration for progress

Nguyen Van Thu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Tan Quan commune, stated that to continue developing Tan Quan and bring a fuller and more prosperous life to its residents, the Party Committee, authorities, and people are working daily to harness the commune’s potential and advantages. Efforts focus on creating breakthroughs in transportation infrastructure, advancing comprehensive digital transformation, and developing a well-rounded workforce. At the same time, the commune is developing a comprehensive plan, zoning areas for development, and identifying industrial zones and clusters. It is focusing on proper economic restructuring, promoting high-tech agriculture, farms, cooperatives, and OCOP products, expanding the service and trade sectors, upgrading traditional markets, and encouraging rural startups with new-style, large-scale models.

To realize the goals of socio-economic development and improve residents’ livelihoods, the action program implementing the Resolution of the Tan Quan Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term emphasized fully leveraging the commune’s advantages to develop agriculture in a modern direction. Priority is given to allocating resources for farm models, cooperatives, and cooperative groups, creating stable jobs and increasing income for the people.

The commune also continues to restructure its crop production toward high-value crops and actively coordinates to support businesses, farms, and farmers in investing and applying scientific and technical advancements in agricultural production, particularly in disease prevention, control, preservation, and processing of agricultural products.

Tan Quan - a land rooted in a revolutionary tradition, harnessing its available resources and potentials, and driven by its creative workforce - is striving daily to advance with confidence toward a brighter future.

The focus is placed on coordinating and organizing training courses and workshops on cultivation techniques, agricultural management, and agribusiness for farmers. Special emphasis is given to vocational training for young workers to encourage them to stay in rural areas and work in the agriculture sector.

Additionally, the commune promotes the development of trade and services, as well as the private economy. It supports residents and businesses in engaging in diversified commercial and service activities, as well as upgrading and developing traditional markets in the area.

“In the coming time, the locality will closely and consistently coordinate with provincial authorities to provide legal support for the establishment of private economic enterprises based on effectively leveraging the commune’s potential and strengths, especially businesses operating in the agricultural sector,” added Nguyen Van Thu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Tan Quan commune.
