As a member organization under the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Dong Nai province, over the years, the Dong Nai Provincial Trade Union has played a key role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of employees. At the same time, it has served as a vital bridge connecting the Party and the State with the working class, contributing to strengthening the employees’ trust in the leadership of the Party and government.
Many models introduced by the trade union to support its members and the employees have been highly appreciated and replicated nationwide by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. These models have provided strong motivation for the union to continue reforming its operations, becoming a solid source of support for its members and the employees in the new context.
Many initiatives provide practical care for workers
According to the Dong Nai Confederation of Labor, the province is home to more than 1.4 million employees working in industrial parks, clusters, and enterprises across different economic sectors. This labor force plays a crucial role in driving economic growth, ensuring social welfare, and strengthening the great national unity bloc within the province. In recent years, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the close coordination of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai Province and its member organizations, trade unions at all levels have achieved many positive outcomes.

A typical example is the wide-ranging initiatives by all levels of the trade union to provide practical care to its members and employees. These efforts have mobilized resources effectively from trade union budgets, local budgets, businesses, and social contributions. Through programs such as “Trade Union Shelter,” “Member Welfare,” “Tet Reunion,” “Workers’ Month,” and “Trade Union Tet Market,” many members and employees facing difficulties such as job loss, natural disasters, serious illness, or workplace accidents, have been supported to stabilize their lives. In the first nine months of 2025 alone, ten “Trade Union Shelter” houses were newly built or repaired for members in difficult circumstances, each valued between 30 and 50 million VND.
Nguyen Van Toai, who works at Xuan Hung Kindergarten (Xuan Hoa commune, Dong Nai province), is among the union members recently granted a “Union Shelter” by the Provincial Confederation of Labor, with 50 million VND in financial support. Overjoyed beside his new home, Toai emotionally shared: “Thanks to the trade union’s caring support, my family now has a secure home, allowing us to settle down and focus on our work. I hope more homes will be built in the future so that the employees facing housing difficulties can live securely and remain connected to their local community.”
The Dong Nai Trade Union plays a dual role, both performing the tasks of a VFF member and as a socio-political body. Therefore, the unit needs to clearly define its core tasks to ensure its apparatus operates effectively and efficiently. The Provincial Confederation of Labor must act as a center of unity, motivating cadres and civil servants to uphold their responsibilities in each department and to fully exercise their role in caring for and protecting workers’ rights. The Union will continue exploring new models and actively applying information technology to disseminate the Party’s guidelines, as well as state policies and laws, to its members and employees.
The annual “Tet Sum Vay” program has become a clear mark of the Dong Nai Trade Union among union members and employees across the province. From enterprises to rental housing areas, union officials visit numerous locations to personally deliver gifts from the province, sharing in the difficulties faced by employees. Alongside that is the program on Gathering Workers’ Families, which is filled with heartfelt emotions and carries significant humanitarian meaning. At these gatherings, representatives from the provincial leadership, the provincial VFF Committee, and various mass organizations join in, encouraging workers to celebrate Tet safely, happily, and fully enjoy the festive spirit.
Beyond gifts, Tet trains and buses organized by the trade union help thousands of workers return home to reunite with their families after many years away. According to Bui Thi Bich Thuy, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor, continuing its support for the employees, during the Lunar New Year 2026 (the Year of the Horse), the Provincial Confederation of Labor plans to provide more than 2,200 bus tickets to union members and employees in difficult circumstances to return home for Tet. The trips are scheduled from February 11 to 14, 2026. This effort reflects the trade union’s efforts to giving workers far from home the opportunity to reunite with their families.
Stabilizing employment and livelihoods of employees
In 2025, a positive sign is that businesses in Dong Nai have experienced a surge in orders and accelerated production, providing stable jobs and income to the employees. Labor relations across the province remain generally stable, with workers actively engaged in production and participating in initiatives to improve processes and product quality. These achievements are credited to businesses’ efforts in ensuring welfare policies, alongside the support of the trade union, and relevant sectors in caring for workers’ livelihoods.
Meanwhile, grassroots trade unions are playing an increasingly active role, coordinating closely with companies’ leadership to strengthen regular dialogue, transparently share production updates, and listen to the employees’ feedback. They also address arising conflicts, helping prevent collective labor disputes and strikes, thereby promoting stable and harmonious labor relations. Currently, 1,800 collective labor agreements have been signed at enterprises with grassroots trade unions in the province, providing a legal framework to protect workers’ rights.
Nguyen Quoc Hung, Chairman of the grassroots trade union at Elite Long Thanh Co., Ltd. (Long Thanh commune), said that: the company currently provides stable employment to nearly 4,000 workers, with an average monthly salary of 8.2 million VND. The company is expanding recruitment of general garment workers and offering various incentives to attract labor. The trade union at company level closely monitors workers’ livelihoods and continuously innovates welfare activities, earning workers’ trust and fostering their commitment to the company.
At a working session with the Dong Nai Trade Union on labor relations, workers, and the Union in October, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Ngo Duy Hieu, commended the Dong Nai Trade Union’s outstanding achievements, particularly in building comprehensive and strong labor relations. Through policy mechanisms and coordination with the government and enterprises, the trade union has become a vital link, protecting workers’ rights and ensuring their welfare. This practical support allows workers to focus on their jobs and contribute to the development of both enterprises and the province.

Nguyen Tan Hieu, Chairman of the Loc Quang commune VFF Committee Reaffirming the central role in strengthening national unity The 1st Provincial VFF Congress for the 2025–2030 term is a politically and socially significant event for the province. I expect that the congress will continue to clearly reaffirm its central role in strengthening national unity while implementing practical solutions tailored to each locality and target group. In particular, in areas with large territories, uneven living standards, or high concentrations of ethnic and religious communities, the Front should continue its support and develop mechanisms for more practical assistance, from monitoring social welfare, ethnic, and religious policies to implementing livelihood programs, building great unity houses, and supporting disadvantaged students and vulnerable groups. Tran Thi Hong Thao, Chairwoman of the Trang Bom commune VFF Committee Innovating activities to suit realities In the spirited emulation atmosphere, leading up to Provincial VFF Congress, people from all walks of life have expressed their trust and hope that the congress will mark a new chapter for the Front and national unity. I expect that the congress will focus on practical issues such as sustainable poverty reduction, environmental protection, social welfare, fostering cultural life in local communities, and promoting the role of the community in local socio-economic development. Strengthening solidarity and cohesion among all segments of the population and ethnic communities, and innovating the Front’s content and methods of operation to align with the province’s realities Le Na – Nguyen Hoa (recorded) |
