Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, stated that immediately after suffering severe damage from Storm No. 13, from November 15 to 21, 2025, Dak Lak province experienced another burdensome period of rain and flooding. This incident was the most significant rainfall and flood event in the province in decades, with water levels exceeding 1.5 meters above the historic 1993 levels, surpassing the 100-year return period.
The natural disasters caused severe and widespread damage, seriously affecting the lives and livelihoods of residents and the province’s essential infrastructure. More than 150,000 houses were deeply flooded, with hundreds destroyed; many personal properties, crops, and livestock were lost; and numerous key transportation routes, bridges, irrigation works, schools, and health stations were severely damaged or washed away. Preliminary losses are estimated at nearly 5,500 billion VND (excluding damages to residents’ personal property). Dak Lak province has been mobilizing all available resources and urgently implementing relief efforts and disaster recovery measures.
