Accordingly, the People's Committees of Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City will continue to inherit and implement the agreements and unified discussions previously established among Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City before the merger, ensuring regional connectivity, particularly in transportation infrastructure.
A regional connectivity task force has been established between Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City. The task force is chaired by Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, with Ho Van Ha, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Province People’s Committee, serving as Deputy Chair. Members include leaders from the Departments of Construction, Finance, Agriculture and Environment, as well as relevant agencies and ward and commune People’s Committees from both localities.
The task force is responsible for developing an implementation plan for connectivity projects from 2025 to 2030, specifying annual and quarterly tasks, creating Gantt charts, and prioritizing project execution. Importantly, innovative technology and data digitization must be applied in management and monitoring to enable the Party Standing Committees of both localities to track and provide timely guidance.
Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City will prioritize local budget resources for implementing regional connectivity projects. Additionally, non-budget funding sources should be explored to support diverse investment models in accordance with applicable regulations. The development of regional linkages is not only aimed at addressing immediate transportation challenges but also at reorganizing development space, rationally allocating growth poles, easing pressure on core urban areas, and generating spillover momentum. Transportation connectivity projects must be planned within the broader framework of integration with Long Thanh and Tan Son Nhat international airports, seaports, logistics networks, and urban and industrial zones. New connection points between the two localities should be reviewed and incorporated into planning in the context of emerging development spaces.
Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City have agreed to hold joint meetings every six months to review progress, assess results, and set directions for upcoming initiatives.
Previously, on October 21, 2025, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee held a working session on transportation connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province.
