After five months of training at the center, these non-commissioned officers bring back not only the mature, enhanced professional expertise and operational skills, but also many meaningful memories. Instructors and officers at the center provided both theoretical and practical lessons, enriched with extensive real-world experience of naval soldiers who guard the sea, helping the trainees build confidence and prepare for their future mission to firmly defend the nation’s sacred maritime sovereignty and continental shelf.
Trainee-centered approach
According to many instructors and managing officers of the training center, the core principle is always to place the learners at the center of the training process, giving them priority in teaching and imparting knowledge as well as skills of marine soldiers. The more meticulous and careful the training process is, the more proficient soldiers will be in the mission of protecting the sea.
Second Lieutenant Le Thai Truong, a communications instructor, explained that the communications specialty is foundational, equipping naval non-commissioned officers with essential knowledge and skills for communication, navigation, identification, and response to maritime situations, as well as ensuring navigation safety.
“This specialty helps trainees read and understand nautical charts, buoys, lighthouses, and other navigation systems, enabling safe navigation, collision avoidance, and accurate positioning at sea. Especially in the military environment, communications are vital for coordinated operations. Signal non-commissioned officers play an important role in maintaining communication networks, relay commands, receive reports, and support other naval activities,” he emphasized.
Phan Tien Dat, who graduated with distinction in the ship engine specialty, shared: “My classmates and I received strong support from officers and instructors to master our lessons. For every naval soldier honored to serve in the ranks, the sacred duty is to continue the mission of guarding the sea, as generations before us have done.”
“The ship engine specialty plays a crucial role in training naval non-commissioned officers to operate, maintain, and repair propulsion systems and technical equipment on naval vessels, contributing to maintaining ship operations and ensuring combat readiness and mission success.” He added.
Focusing on comprehensive quality
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Son, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2, stated that the unit’s strong mission performance in recent years, especially in 2025, is due to several factors. In which, high-quality training for non-commissioned officers with technical qualifications is always focused.
“Equipping trainees with comprehensive knowledge, particularly naval technical disciplines, enables them to grasp, master, apply, and promptly handle situations at sea. A well-trained non-commissioned officer force, the quality of and enhanced non-commissioned officers with technical qualifications, contributes significantly to safe and successful voyages,” he said.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Son added that graduates always uphold the principles of “Studying to serve, training to dedicate, living to be worthy of the title of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.” The core values for modern naval non-commissioned officers are: absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the People; unwavering resolve in all circumstances; and the steadfast ideals of a revolutionary soldier.
Among the 371 non-commissioned officers with technical qualifications, more than 84% achieved good or excellent results. 78 trainees received promotions to the rank of sergeants, and many others were honored by the center’s leadership. This is an important motivation as they prepare to embark on naval missions to defend national sovereignty.
Continuously learning and training to master knowledge and refine professional expertise, the naval soldiers must not only operate but also improve and innovate technical equipment in their ranks to better serve combat missions. They must uphold discipline, solidarity, kindness, humility, and readiness to support comrades, spreading the spirit of "each person for everyone - everyone for the common mission". The naval soldiers should live with ideals, responsibility, and dreams - for a soldier is truly strong only when their heart holds the Fatherland, comrades, and unwavering faith.
Colonel Dau Dinh Dan, Commander of the Naval Region 2 Training Center, noted that in 2025, the unit was assigned to train 371 non-commissioned officers with technical qualifications - the intake was larger than in previous years. All trainees met the graduation requirements, with more than 84% achieving good or excellent results. This result reflects the strong support from the Party Committee, Naval Region 2 Command, the center’s leadership, and the dedication of instructors, along with the trainees’ resilience and determination.
He emphasized that 100% of theoretical lessons now use IT applications, digital presentations, and simulations, helping trainees grasp concepts thoroughly. Hands-on training on weapons and ships was conducted effectively, as proven through performance evaluations before graduation. Most instructors have extensive real-world experience from missions at sea, on islands, the continental shelf, and at offshore platforms, enabling them to seamlessly integrate theory with practice, creating favorable conditions for improving the quality of training of non-commissioned officers with technical qualifications.
The results of the training course affirm that the center truly serves as a cradle for training naval soldiers. The non-commissioned officers with technical qualifications graduate with strong technical knowledge, solid professional skills, and a firm soldierly spirit, ready to inherit more than 70 years of heroic tradition of the Vietnam People’s Navy. After graduation, with the vitality of youth, they will board ships and head to sea, inheriting the tradition of their ancestors, firmly protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland in the sea.
