Trade unions to organize Tet support for members, workers

The Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation has launched a plan to organize support activities for union members and workers in the province during the upcoming Tet holiday for the Year of the Horse.

Under the plan, trade unions at all levels in Dong Nai Province will organize a wide range of activities for union members and workers. These include “Tet Reunion” programs, family gatherings for workers, cultural performances, sports events, social exchanges, and lucky draws held at industrial zones, workers’ housing areas, and local enterprises. The initiative aims to ensure that every worker, regardless of their financial situation, can enjoy a festive and inclusive New Year celebration. Union representatives will also visit and present gifts to workers facing difficult circumstances, including those with low incomes, serious illnesses, occupational diseases, workplace injuries, or unstable employment. Special attention will be given to those owed wages or holiday bonuses, families under social welfare policies, female workers raising young children, and individuals who have been unable to return home for years. Additionally, free or subsidized transportation, including train, bus, and air tickets, will be provided to help workers return home for the holiday and travel back afterward.

Grassroots trade unions should take the initiative to coordinate with employers in developing plans to support union members and workers during the Lunar New Year. Funding for these activities should come from the union’s internal budget, in accordance with its spending regulations, along with additional support from the employer. Unions are encouraged to propose that employers organize visits and offer gifts to union members and workers facing difficulties or unable to return to their hometowns for the holiday. Employers are also urged to provide transportation support, such as bus tickets or travel allowances, and to announce holiday schedules, salary payments, and bonuses early to help workers feel secure and motivated.
