With the determination of the entire political system, during the 2020-2025 term, Dong Nai Province has implemented social welfare policies in a synchronized and effective manner, achieving clear progress in reducing multidimensional poverty and improving people’s living standards, especially in remote, isolated, and border areas. Each program, each model of social security and sustainable poverty reduction, aims at the common goal: Leaving no one behind on the path of development.
Regarding outstanding results in recent years, the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction has been effectively implemented, ensuring the poor have access to and benefit from essential social services. Dong Nai province has completed the Target Program on eliminating over 2,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. The province has also effectively implemented the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in remote, isolated, and border areas.
Over the past time, the living standards of people in remote, isolated, and border areas have been constantly improved, but a portion of the population here still face difficulties compared to other regions, especially in border communes with a large number of ethnic minorities. Currently, there are 34,849 households with over 134,500 people living in 8 border communes of the province, including: Bu Gia Map, Dak O, Hung Phuoc, Thien Hung, Tan Tien, Loc Tan, Loc Thanh, and Loc Thanh. Among them, Bu Gia Map commune remains classified as a particularly disadvantaged area, eligible to fully benefit from all 3 national target programs.
For the 2025–2030 term, Dong Nai has set the goal of promoting not only economic growth but also parallel development in culture, society, healthcare, and education, thereby improving both the material and spiritual lives of its citizens. In the coming time, the entire political system will continue to implement a comprehensive and effective social security and social welfare system, implement ethnic and religious policies well, and enhance the quality of life for people in remote, isolated, border, and ethnic minority areas.
At the same time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) at all levels across the province will intensify propaganda and mobilization campaigns to organizations, businesses, and individuals to contribute to the “For the Poor” Fund, helping disadvantaged, near-poor, and special hardship households with housing, capital, health insurance,... The fund also supports the construction of schools in border areas, under the spirit of “The whole country for the border regions, the whole country for our beloved students.” Additionally, Dong Nai will focus on developing and improving social services related to employment, insurance, healthcare, education, culture, information, environment, and social assistance, narrowing the gap between regions and ensuring everyone can access and benefit from essential social services.
In the time ahead, Dong Nai will continue to innovate and expand effective models and best practices in sustainable poverty reduction, focusing on models of creating sustainable livelihoods, supporting start-ups, vocational training, and job creation to help people escape poverty and stabilize their lives. After all, to ensure sustainable poverty reduction, along with comprehensive social security measures from functional agencies, the poor, the near-poor, and disadvantaged individuals themselves must also foster self-reliance and resilience, be active and proactive in work and production, and promote the role of self-improvement to escape poverty sustainably.
