In recent days, following the Appeal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Dong Nai Province, a strong wave of support has spread across all walks of life, vividly reflecting the Vietnamese spirit of unity and compassion in times of adversity. From officials, civil servants, and public employees to students and workers….everyone has joined hands to demonstrate the spirit of “the healthy leaf covers the torn one” through acts of humanity.
Within just 27 days since the campaign was launched (from October 3 to date), the Dong Nai Province VFF Committee has received over 7,000 contributions, amounting to nearly 60 billion VND. These figures not only illustrate the power of collective effort but also serve as a vivid proof of the enduring tradition of mutual support and solidarity that characterises the Vietnamese people. Among the donors are enterprises and organisations contributing hundreds of millions or even billions of dong, as well as individuals in difficult circumstances who still wish to extend their help. Regardless of the amount or whether their names are made public or remain anonymous, all share a common purpose: to support compatriots in times of hardship.
Alongside provincial-level efforts, the VFF Committee at communal level has also promptly organised fundraising drives to ensure that people are well informed about official donation channels, thereby preventing any misuse of goodwill. Social and mass organisations have also worked tirelessly, visiting agencies and workplaces to promote the campaign and encourage participation, helping spread the message of compassion throughout the community.
These images and stories paint a vivid picture of a warm-hearted and united Dong Nai, where every individual stands ready to share with their fellow citizens in times of difficulty. Each act of kindness, no matter how small, represents a brick in the “House of Compassion” of the Vietnamese nation, illuminating the humane values and moral principle of “Loving others as much as you love yourself”.
In a message of gratitude addressed to the public, the leadership of the Dong Nai Province VFF Committee affirmed that “all contributions will be used for the intended purposes of the appeal.” This is not only a pledge of transparency but also a heartfelt expression of appreciation for those who have joined hands in building a compassionate and sharing society.
As October is drawing to a close, torrential rains once again pour down, forcing the central region —our "beloved middle part of the country" - to struggle against and recover from severe flooding. The surging floodwaters have not only swept away property and crops, but also left deep concern and loss to thousands of households. Images of houses submerged under water, people rowing boats to collect relief supplies, or sharing modest meals amidst shortages touch the hearts of everyone who witnesses them.
Natural disasters are unavoidable, yet amid adversity, the Vietnamese spirit of solidarity and mutual aid shines brighter than ever. This is a time when the entire nation, including Dong Nai, turns its heart towards the central region, where compassion and helping hands are needed most. Whether it is a small gift, a modest donation, or a sincere word of encouragement, every gesture carries immense power to help those affected overcome hardship, rebuild their lives, and restore what has been lost.
