Nearly 300 athletes compete in the 2025 Dong Nai Provincial Karate Championship and Youth Championship

Nearly 300 athletes from 15 communes and wards across the province competed at the 2025 Dong Nai Provincial Karate Championship and Youth Championship held at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center Gymnasium.

On the morning of October 2, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Dong Nai province organized the opening ceremony of the 2025 Dong Nai Provincial Karate Championship and Youth Championship at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center Gymnasium.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, Huynh Thien Tinh, stated that the Dong Nai Provincial Karate Youth Championship and Championship is an annual sporting event designed to evaluate the quality of Karate training and competition in the province. This tournament also serves as a platform for athletes to demonstrate their talent, courage, and martial spirit.

Through the tournament, the organizers aim to identify and select outstanding athletes, contributing to the development of a professional athlete pool ready to compete in regional and national tournaments, while also promoting the noble values of sports.

The tournament is taking place from October 2 to 6, bringing together nearly 300 athletes from 15 commune and ward-level units across the province. Competitors will vie for 44 sets of medals in two events: Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring), under two divisions: Youth Championship (for athletes born between 2010 and 2013) and Senior Championship (for athletes born in 2009 or earlier).

In the Championship division, athletes participate in 4 Kata events and 22 Kumite (sparring) events: 20 individual events (10 male weight classes and 10 female weight classes) and 2 team events (one male and one female). In the Youth Championship division, athletes compete in four Kata events and 14 Kumite (sparring) events: 12 individual events (six male weight classes and six female weight classes) and two team events (one male and one female).

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the athletes began competing in the first event: men’s individual Kata.
