Ministry of Construction proposes Dong Nai draft adjustment plan for Long Thanh Airport resettlement project

Regarding the preparation of documents for revising the Long Thanh Airport land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement project, the Ministry of Construction has provided its opinions on the authority to permit the preparation of the revised project documents and the authority to approve the project adjustment.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Construction has proposed that the Prime Minister assign the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee to compile and submit the necessary documentation and carry out procedures in accordance with Government Decree No. 29/2021/ND-CP, dated March 26, 2021, which stipulates regulations on the appraisal of nationally significant projects as well as on investment supervision and evaluation. At the same time, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all materials submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of the project adjustment.

Previously, the Provincial People’s Committee had proposed adjustments to the Land Acquisition, Compensation, Support, and Resettlement Project for Long Thanh Airport. According to the Committee, to implement site clearance for the airport’s construction, two resettlement areas have been planned in Dong Nai Province for households affected by the project: the Loc An–Binh Son Resettlement Area and Subzone III of the Binh Son Resettlement Area.

During implementation, 391 households originally registered for resettlement in Subzone III of the Binh Son Resettlement Area expressed their wish to be relocated to the Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area instead. In response, the Provincial People’s Committee directed relevant agencies to assess demand, determine the required land area, and adjust the detailed construction plan to increase the number of resettlement plots in the Loc An – Binh Son area. To date, Dong Nai Province has basically completed the resettlement arrangements for the Long Thanh Airport Project and its T1 and T2 routes.

Based on this, the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province has proposed that the Central Government return more than 81 hectares of land in Subzone III of the Binh Son Resettlement Area, part of the Long Thanh Airport land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement project, for socio-economic development in accordance with the province's planning. As for the VND 46 billion in compensation already disbursed for the site, the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province has committed to reimbursing the Central Government’s budget from provincial funds, in line with current regulations.
