Firm confidence in the national foundation after nearly 40 years of renovation

Initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, starting from the 6th National Party Congress (1986) to the 14th National Party Congress, the comprehensive renovation of the country has been carried out for nearly 40 years with great achievements of historical significance. This clearly demonstrates the correctness of the renovation line, developing the country on the path towards socialism chosen by our Party and People; it is also a foundation and firm belief for us to continue accelerating the comprehensive renovation process, leading the country into a new era with outstanding achievements.

However, hostile forces and political opportunists constantly deny and distort the line and the practical achievements of the country's renovation process, thereby seeking to negate the leading role of the Party and the socialist regime in our country.

Great achievements of historical significance

From a nation devastated by war, facing countless difficulties and challenges, especially the severe socio-economic crisis that occurred in the years before renovation, Vietnam has risen to become a developing country with a high-middle income and a firmly maintained socialist orientation; its role, position, and international prestige have been enhanced; the material and spiritual lives of the people have significantly improved; national defense and security are firmly secured.

The renovation process under the leadership of the Party over the past nearly 40 years has fundamentally and comprehensively changed the country's stature, potential, position, and international prestige. That is not something vague or distant, as distorted by false narratives, but is clearly manifested in the positive changes in social life, in every breath of life. According to the Draft Political Report of the 13th Party Central Committee to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress, economic growth in the 2021-2025 period reached an average of about 6.3% per year, belonging to the group of high-growth countries in the region and in the world. GDP scale in 2025 is estimated to reach over 510 billion USD, 1.47 times higher than in 2020, ranking 32nd in the world; GDP per capita reached about 5 thousand USD, placing the country in the high-middle income group, and earning high appreciation from many reputable international organizations.

It can be affirmed that the achievements of the country's renovation process are not self-evident but result from the continuous and persistent efforts of the entire Party, people, and army with the Party's correct, creative strategic directions, lines, and policies; consistent with the country's reality and the trend of the times, along with the determination and dedication of the entire population.

As a remote and isolated area of Dong Nai province, Dak Lua commune has made significant socio-economic progress in recent years, and the lives of the people have significantly improved thanks to adaptation to flooding and the application of high-tech agricultural production models. The disparity between Dak Lua commune and other areas of former Tan Phu district in particular and other localities in Dong Nai province in general has gradually been narrowed.

According to Nguyen Thanh Hien, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Dak Lua Communal People's Committee, the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, including the assessment of the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the country's foundation after nearly 40 years of renovation, have provided a comprehensive and scientific overview, demonstrating innovative thinking, strong reform, and decisive action. Not only summarizing the development journey over the past 5 years, the contents also contain many new points, shaping strategic thinking, vision, and orientation for the country's future development. However, the goal of striving for an average GDP growth rate of 10% per year or higher for the 2026-2030 period is quite ambitious, requiring great determination and strategic, breakthrough solutions to realize the goal. This includes creating maximum conditions for open mechanisms to increase development conditions and opportunities; focusing on policies to continue narrowing the disparity between difficult regions and developed regions...

A new step forward in the Party's theoretical thinking

Not only has our Party gained remarkable achievements in socio-economic development, but through nearly 40 years of renovation, it has also attained accomplishments in theoretical thinking, constantly innovating, creating, developing, and refining its approaches. This is clearly demonstrated through the Draft Summary Report on a number of theoretical and practical issues regarding Vietnam's socialist-oriented renovation process over the past nearly 40 years - one of the Draft Documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress, which is currently seeking broad public feedback.

In particular, this is also the first time our Party has identified the "theory of the renovation line" as a constitutive component of the Party's ideological foundation. The Report on some new and important issues in the Draft Documents Submitted to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress, provided by the 14th Congress Document Editorial Team stated: The addition of the “theory of the renovation line” to the Party's ideological foundation is a historically significant development, demonstrating the Party’s maturity in theoretical thinking, its capacity for practical summary, and its courage for the self-renovation; showing that the Party always knows how to inherit, supplement, and creatively develop, linking theory with practice, enriching the theoretical-ideological treasure of the Vietnamese revolution.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Tho, specialist at the Dong Nai provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization, asserted that the summary report on a number of theoretical and practical issues regarding the renovation process shows a remarkable step forward in the theoretical understanding of socialism and the path toward socialism in Vietnam. From the vivid reality of the renovation process, the report clarified many crucial theoretical issues such as: the relationship between renovation - stability - development; between economic growth and social progress and equity; between independence and self-reliance and international integration; between the Party's leadership, the State's management, and the People's mastery...

Notably, the report embodies the spirit of “self-reflection and self-correction”, daring to look squarely at limitations and shortcomings; while also pointing out new theoretical issues arising in the new development phase - associated with the requirement to build a prosperous, happy, democratic, equitable, and civilized country. In doing so, our Party continues to affirm its firm political courage, scientific thinking, and ability to summarize practice and develop theory on par with the revolutionary task.

Remaining firm in belief

Over the past nearly 40 years, despite numerous difficulties and the constant changes in the international context and social life, the people nationwide have remained steadfast in belief, sharing a common vision and a common aspiration for renovation.

Representing the heroic Binh Long homeland's youth generation, Nguyen Van Can, Secretary of the Binh Long Ward Youth Union, Dong Nai province, expressed: From a land once soaked with the sweat and blood of countless generations of our forebears, Binh Long is changing and developing day by day. That transformation serves as a vivid testament to the Party's insightful vision, the solidarity of the entire people, and the spirit of dedication and commitment of many generations.

After nearly 40 years of national renovation, besides economic achievements, social indicators have continuously improved, the people's lives have been enhanced, and social progress and equity have been emphasized. The average life expectancy of the people has continuously increased, reaching 74.5 years in 2024; the happiness index has also improved, ranking 46th out of 143 countries.

"Our youth generation always holds a firm belief, following in the footsteps of our forefathers, living with ambitions and ideals, always volunteering, being creative, and ready to contribute our youthful strength along with the Party committees, authorities, and people to build the Binh Long, Dong Nai province, into an increasingly wealthy, beautiful, and civilized homeland, firmly advancing with the whole country on the path of renovation and integration" - Can shared.

In the context of rapidly evolving, complex, and unpredictable developments in the world and in the region, with the country facing numerous intertwined opportunities and challenges, the people's faith in the Party's leadership and the path of renovation initiated and led by the Party is precisely the "shield" protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against wrong and hostile views. That faith has been and is being consolidated and nurtured by the great achievements of historical significance that the country has attained in nearly four decades of renovation and the strategic orientations to build a peaceful, independent, democratic, wealthy, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, steadily advancing toward socialism.
