On the morning of October 19, the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Xoai ward held a sports event to mark the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women’s Union (October 20, 1930-2025) and the 15th anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20, 2010-2025).
Attending the event were Comrade Ta Thanh Binh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ward Party Committee and Head of the Party Building Commission; Comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan, Party Committee Member and Vice Chairwoman of the Ward People’s Committee; Comrade Hoang Lan Anh, Party Committee Member and Chairwoman of the Ward Women’s Union; along with leaders of professional divisions, units, associations, unions of the ward, executive boards of residential areas, officials, public employees, workers, and residents of Dong Xoai ward.

In her opening remarks, comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan, Party Committee Member and Vice Chairwoman of the Ward People’s Committee, affirmed that alongside the tasks of socio-economic development and strengthening national defense and security, Dong Xoai ward has consistently prioritized promoting mass sports movements. These efforts aim to improve public health, enhance physical fitness, develop human resources, and contribute to building a prosperous and healthy cultural life for the people.

This sports event was organized to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women’s Union and the 15th anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20). It also continued to effectively carry out the campaign “All People Exercise Following the Example of Uncle Ho.” The event served as a practical and meaningful activity to honor the role, status, and significant contributions of Vietnamese women within families, society, and the cause of building and developing the homeland. The sports event also provided a healthy, engaging platform for participants to improve fitness, interact and learn from one another, and demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, honesty, and nobility, while promoting the humanitarian values and fine traditions of the Vietnamese people.

With 15 teams and more than 200 athletes from departments, offices, units, associations, schools, and residential areas across the ward, the competition featured two traditional folk sports: tug-of-war and sack jumping. Taking place over the course of a single morning, the event was lively and engaging. Participating teams competed with intensity and enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of Unity - Honesty - Sportsmanship, delivering tense and dramatic matchups amid the vibrant cheers and applause of the audience.

As a result, in the tug-of-war competition, the first prize was awarded to the Dong Xoai Ward Police team, the second prize to the Tien Thanh 3 neighborhood team, and the third prize was shared by Tien Thanh Secondary School and Tan Thanh Primary School teams. In the sack jumping, the first prize went to the Tien Thanh 5 neighborhood team, the second prize to Tien Thanh Secondary School, and the third prize to Tan Thanh Primary School.
The sports event not only created a joyful and lively atmosphere for officials and union members but also contributed to stimulating training and competition in sports among the masses. It promoted the movement “All People Exercise Following the Example of Great Uncle Ho” within the ward, helping to improve the physical and mental health of officials and residents across the ward, while actively contributing to local socio-economic development.
