Dong Xoai: Promoting the role of farmers in urban agricultural economic development

On October 15, the official session of the First Congress of the Dong Xoai Ward Farmers' Union for the 2025-2030 term was held, with 90 delegates representing the local farming community in attendance.

The Dong Xoai Ward Farmers’ Union currently comprises 19 branches, including 15 residential community branches and 4 professional farmer groups. From 2023 to 2025, the Union’s operations and farmer movements continued to evolve significantly, both in terms of content and form. These efforts have reinforced the Union’s role as a key driver of unity and creativity among members, who have effectively carried out political tasks while representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of local farmers. By the end of the term, many targets had been met or exceeded, with 100% of branches recognized annually as strong and transparent organizations.

With the spirit of "Solidarity - Democracy - Creativity - Cooperation - Development," the congress set forth directions to strengthen the organization; promote private economic development; position farmers as key stakeholders and central actors in the growth of urban agricultural economies; and continue efforts in innovation, digital transformation, green growth, value chain linkage, and climate change adaptation. The Union also aims to promote high-tech agriculture in connection with eco-tourism and the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, contributing to the transformation of Dong Xoai ward into a civilized, ecological, and compassionate urban area.

To realize these goals, during the 2025-2030 term, the Union will focus on 10 core targets. These include: ensuring that 100% of officials and members receive education and dissemination of the Party’s guidelines, State policies and laws, and the Union’s resolutions and directives, especially those concerning agriculture, farmers, and rural development. Additionally, the Union will fulfill its annual targets for admitting and developing new members, aiming to meet 100% of the assigned quotas.

The Congress also announced the decision to appoint the new Executive Committee, consisting of 25 members. Mai Thi Hong Luyen, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Xoai Ward Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, was appointed Chairwoman of the Dong Xoai Ward Farmers’ Union for the 2025-2030 term. Two official delegates were also selected to attend the First Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Farmers’ Union for the 2025-2030 term.
