The decentralization of management over historical – cultural relics, scenic landscapes, and cultural works in Dong Nai province has, in recent years, been implemented in accordance with Decision No. 13-2023/QD-UBND on the promulgation of regulations on the decentralized management of classified historical - cultural relics and scenic spots within the province, and Decision No. 33-2021/QD-UBND on the management, protection, and promotion of classified historical–cultural relics and picturesque landscapes in Binh Phuoc Province.
However, with the implementation of the two-tier local government model, some provisions in these decisions are no longer aligned with the current administrative structure. While new regulatory documents are being developed to replace them, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee has temporarily assigned relevant agencies, units, and localities to manage and promote the value of historical–cultural sites, scenic spots, and cultural landmarks in the province.
Under this temporary assignment, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been entrusted with the management of nine relics and scenic sites, including: Cat Tien National Park (classified scenic landscape); Buu Long scenic landscape (excluding Buu Phong pagoda); Nha Xanh (Green House) Historical Site; Temple and Tomb of Nguyen Huu Canh; Binh Truoc meeting house; Tan Hiep prison relic site; Tran Bien temple of literature; The founding site of Unit 125 - the precursor to the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation (KUFNS) armed forces; Dau Giay Rubber Plantation and the parade ground of Dau Giay plantation outpost.

Agencies, units, and local authorities that have been temporarily assigned to manage historical–cultural relics, scenic landscapes, and cultural works are fully responsible to the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee for the effective management and promotion of these sites. They must appoint personnel to oversee the grounds and spaces of the relics, protect assets and artifacts, and prevent any encroachment or damage to the relics and related objects. These entities are also tasked with organizing festivals and religious or spiritual activities related to the relics in a manner that respects their historical significance and aligns with local cultural traditions and customs. Additionally, they should actively promote public awareness and encourage community involvement in preserving and enhancing the value of local heritage sites.
The Provincial People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead, in coordination with relevant agencies and localities, in urgently carrying out the inventory and formal handover of sites in accordance with current regulations. Meanwhile, the Department of Finance is to collaborate with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, as well as commune- and ward-level People's Committees, to complete the procedures for transferring public assets associated with these relics, ensuring compliance with relevant legal provisions.
As of the end of September 2025, Dong Nai province has a total of 120 classified relics, including 6 special national relics, 42 national relics, and 72 provincial relics.
