According to the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, in accordance with Decision No. 1367/QĐ-BTC dated April 16, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Finance regarding the transfer of road transport infrastructure assets, the Ministry of Construction has officially handed over the management of road infrastructure assets on National Highways 1, 20, 51, and 56 (sections running through Dong Nai province) to the Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee.

In recent times, the Ministry of Construction has paid attention to repairing and addressing damage on national highways. However, many sections remain in poor condition, particularly National Highway 51, which is suffering from asphalt subsidence, surface peeling, wheel rutting, potholes, and faded lane markings that have lost their effectiveness. Therefore, repairing the national highways within the province, especially National Highway 51, is an urgent necessity to ensure traffic safety for vehicles.

Regarding funding, according to calculations by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, the total funding needed for repairing the national highways is nearly 1.4 trillion VND. Of this, about 141 billion VND is for National Highway 1, about 317 billion VND for National Highway 20, around 842 billion VND for National Highway 51, and 65 billion VND for National Highway 56.

The provincial People’s Committee also mentioned that Dong Nai is actively working with neighboring localities to develop key transport projects for inter-regional connectivity, including the Cat Lai Bridge, Dong Nai 2 Bridge, Ma Da Bridge, Hieu Liem Bridge, Thanh Hoi Bridge, Xom La Bridge, Tan An Bridge, and Tan Hien Bridge.

At the same time, to improve connectivity between localities in the province and Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai is also developing several transport projects, such as Provincial Roads 769, 773, and 770B.

In addition, to implement inter-regional transport projects, Dong Nai Province’s budget must cover 50% of the site clearance costs for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project, 50% of the total investment for the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road No. 3 Project and contribute the state budget portion for the Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 4 Project. Therefore, the provincial budget is currently under significant financial pressure, making it extremely difficult to allocate sufficient funds for the comprehensive repair of national highways traversing the province.

Also according to the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, on August 15, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Head of Task Force No. 5 established under Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1544/QĐ-TTg dated July 16, 2025, chaired a working session with Dong Nai provincial leadership to address existing difficulties and obstacles, promote production, business activities, public investment, national target programs, and discuss upcoming directions and tasks. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Đuc Phoc paid particular attention to Dong Nai’s proposal, calling for financial support to comprehensively repair the national highways passing through the province.
