Wood industry faces demand for greenhouse gas emission reduction

On September 17, the Dong Nai Wood and Handicrafts Association (DOWA), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), organised a workshop on greenhouse gas inventory and emission reduction, with the participation of member enterprises.

At the event, ILO experts presented an overview of greenhouse gases and Vietnam’s current legal regulations regarding compliance with measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They also presented detailed analysis of methods for calculating emissions from factories, practical implementation at enterprises, and the process of specific classification..

Participants were also introduced to the roadmap for preparing reports aimed at developing effective and suitable emission reduction plans, along with practical experience in conducting greenhouse gas inventory at ViTaNa Co. Ltd (Giang Dien Industrial Park, Dong Nai).

The workshop also provided time for enterprises and experts to exchange experiences and solutions to effectively carry out inventory tasks, with a view to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It reaffirmed the commitment to accompanying the enterprises on their journey towards green transition, emission reduction, and environmental protection.

According to DOWA leaders, green and environmentally friendly development is now an inevitable trend for manufacturing industries. The wood sector, in particular, holds significant potential for both Dong Nai and Vietnam. In the coming time, DOWA will continue working with domestic and international units to seek solutions that help enterprises pursue the sustainable production goal and build a strong brand for the industry.
