As a major transportation hub of the country, Dong Nai is seeing strong investment in transport infrastructure, with the goal of developing a modern, integrated network to meet the province's socio-economic development needs.
Dong Nai - the country’s major construction site
After nearly three years of construction, on August 19, 2025, Component Project 1A, the Tan Van-Nhon Trach section of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, was officially inaugurated and opened to traffic.
The first 8 kilometers of one of the Southeast region's most important ring roads, including the Nhon Trach Bridge that directly connects Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai, is now in operation, creating major opportunities for Dong Nai to advance socio-economic development.
Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Finance, Truong Thi Huong Binh, remarked: The inauguration and operation of Component Project 1A, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, will shorten the travel distance from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City. From there, it will pave the way for a new phase of development, facilitating goods transportation, boosting trade, enabling early traffic separation, and easing congestion on urban roads in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time as the inauguration of Component Project 1A, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, four other transport infrastructure projects in the province were also simultaneously launched, including: Expansion of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway; Component Project 1 of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway; Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressway (phase 1); and Ma Da Bridge. While the construction and expansion of the expressways will strengthen regional connectivity between Dong Nai and neighboring localities, Ma Da Bridge is a key "piece" in forming the "spine" intra-provincial transport route of the new Dong Nai.
Transport infrastructure has been identified as one of the province's breakthrough development areas. In the near future, Dong Nai will have all 5 modes of transport: road, railway, air, maritime, and inland waterway.
Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee
Dong Nai not only holds a central position in the Southeast region and the southern key economic region, but is also one of the country's most important transport hubs. Therefore, in recent times, a series of major national infrastructure projects have been implemented in the province, such as phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, and Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City... According to the plan, these projects will be completed by 2026. Along with these, many other transport infrastructure projects in the province have also officially been launched, such as the expressways: Dau Giay - Tan Phu, Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh…
According to Ho Van Ha, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, with a series of infrastructure projects, especially transport infrastructure, being simultaneously implemented across the province, Dong Nai is becoming one of the country's "major construction site".
Opening up new development spaces
Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, stated: Long Thanh Airport, along with the expressways and ring roads passing through the province, once completed and operational, will open great opportunities for Dong Nai to rise and develop. Not only do they play a role in transport connectivity, but these infrastructure projects, once operational, will also unlock new development spaces for the province.

To fully capitalize on newly emerging development spaces, Dong Nai has recently stepped up planning efforts for areas adjacent to key transport routes, alongside investments to upgrade and expand provincial roads connecting to Long Thanh Airport and nearby expressways.
The province aims to unlock the full potential of these areas while broadly spreading development momentum, thereby creating new advantages and driving forces for sustained growth.
Meanwhile, Tran Du Lich, a member of Dong Nai's socio-economic advisory group, remarked that Dong Nai is currently developing its strengths in air and seaports, with the potential addition of border gates. In case a railway connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the border gate and an expressway to Chon Thanh are established soon, this integrated system will generate strong momentum for the province's development.
“Long Thanh Airport, when fully completed, will become one of the 6 largest airports in the world.”
Deputy Prime Minister HO DUC PHOC
During a working session with the provincial People's Committee on 15‑8 on the province's 2025 socio-economic development situation and addressing difficulties and obstacles in the locality, Central Party Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc stated: Dong Nai is currently a 'major construction site' with many key projects underway. The province holds a special position with tremendous potential and advantages for development.
"With Long Thanh Airport, multiple seaports, industrial parks, expressways, and soon railway lines, these are interrelated factors that are closely connected in driving socio-economic development. Therefore, I believe Dong Nai will soon accelerate and achieve a breakthrough in its growth," Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc shared.
