In addition to being a vanguard force in learning, labor, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement, Youth Union members and young people also play a key role as a bridge for promoting historical and cultural values within the community.
To support Youth Union members and young people in fulfilling this role, Youth Union and Association organizations at all levels have consistently created opportunities for them to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of their homeland and the nation.

Enhancing historical and cultural knowledge for Youth Union members and youth
Resolution No. 12-NQ/TU dated December 12, 2023, issued by the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee on building and promoting the cultural values and people of Dong Nai as a key resource and driving force for comprehensive and sustainable development, sets a target that by 2025, 95% of students and young people in schools across the province will annually participate in traditional education and explore historical and cultural values at cultural institutions, prominent historical and cultural relics, and revolutionary sites within the province.
To contribute to this goal, Youth Union organizations have launched a variety of models and activities aimed at educating Youth Union members and young people about revolutionary traditions. These initiatives come under various names, such as “Returning to the roots,” “Journey to red addresses,” “Red seed journey,” “Following in the footsteps of heroes,” “Green seeds,” and exchanges with historical witnesses. Despite their different names, all share the common purpose of fostering revolutionary tradition education among Youth Union members and young people.
Participating in the recent “Red Seed Journey,” Do Thi Minh Anh, a 12th-grade student at Tri An High School (Tri An commune, Dong Nai province), said the experience opened her eyes.
Minh Anh shared: “By joining the Red Seed Journey, I had the opportunity to learn more about the recent history of Dong Nai province through the Dong Xoai Victory Site and the Binh Phuoc Cultural Exhibition Space at the Dong Nai Provincial Museum (Binh Phuoc ward).”
According to Minh Anh, trips that return to the roots and explore history at red addresses should be organized more frequently so that Youth Union members and young people can gain a deeper understanding of the land they live in. With the knowledge gained from the Red Seed Journey, she plans to share and introduce what she has learned with friends and family.
Adapting to the context of developing information technology, the internet, and social networks, Youth Union organizations at all levels have introduced suitable models and activities that meet the tastes of young people. Among these initiatives, the model of digitizing red addresses has been introduced. Consequently, information and images of historical relics are gathered and integrated with QR codes. Youth Union members and young people can access information and pictures of historical sites from anywhere by using an internet-connected device to scan a QR code.
In schools, the Youth Union and Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer organizations have provided guidance on organizing activities that return to the roots, explore significant historical sites, and create opportunities for students to experience and learn about historical and cultural values at local cultural institutions and historical relics.
In addition to organizing history knowledge competitions, Youth Union organizations have conducted communication campaigns for major national anniversaries. Most recently, during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, Youth Union organizations at all levels launched the “Proud of Vietnam” communication campaign, widely covering social networks with information and images on this significant event.
Participating in preserving and spreading historical stories
Since August 2025, the Central Youth Union has initiated the project “Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union participates in preserving and propagating historical stories,” under the theme “Stories of fierce wartime” (hereinafter referred to as the project), with the aim of enhancing the role of young people in preserving and spreading historical stories.
Implementing the Central Youth Union’s project, Nguyen Tran Phuong Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, signed and issued a plan to carry out the project in Dong Nai province, accompanied by guidelines for promoting historical stories under the theme “Stories of fierce wartime”. The project is being implemented from August 2025 to July 27, 2026, featuring four peak periods linked to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
The Provincial Youth Union requires that, based on the plan and guidelines, Youth Union organizations at the grassroots level deploy for Youth Union members and youth to learn, research implementation methods, and actively participate in project implementation. They should coordinate with veterans’ associations and relevant units to compile lists and addresses of historical witnesses in their localities. Subsequently, teams should be formed to visit and meet with historical witnesses, listen to their stories, and record them. Alternatively, organizations should organize visits for Youth Union members and young people to “red addresses” associated with historical witnesses to record videos as material for making video clips about the witnesses' stories. Concurrently, materials related to historical witnesses can be collected to develop exhibition models focused on historical memories. Furthermore, the Youth Union, Association and Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers at all levels should maintain history-themed activities and invite local historical witnesses to participate in exchanges and share their stories with children and teenagers.
Tran Thi Tham, Secretary of the Trang Dai ward Youth Union, shared that the ward's Youth Union recently organized an exchange program with historical witnesses. During the event, Youth Union members and young people heard firsthand accounts from witnesses who took part in the war, recounting the hardships, struggles, and even sacrifices endured by earlier generations.
“We hope that through these stories, Youth Union members and young people will gain a deeper understanding of history and the value of peace, learn to cherish and preserve it, and contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland,” Tham said.
