Delivering remarks at the conference, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Environment, underscored that Dong Nai holds substantial mineral reserves, making it a key resource hub in the Southeast region. Under the province’s master plan for 2021–2030, with a long-term vision to 2050, thousands of hectares have been earmarked for mineral extraction. As of the end of June 2025, Dong Nai had 78 licensed mining sites under the jurisdiction of the Provincial People’s Committee. Currently, 46 of these sites are active, supplying essential materials for transportation works, infrastructure development, and major national projects.

The Law on Geology and Minerals, set to take effect on July 1, 2025, is considered a major step forward in natural resource management. It aims to fully institutionalize the Party’s directives and the State’s legal policies; establish a transparent and consistent legal framework; and resolve the overlaps and shortcomings of the 2010 Mineral Law. At the same time, it ensures alignment with international practices and promotes sustainable development.

To ensure timely and coordinated implementation of the law, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Plan No. 21/KH-UBND on July 28, 2025, outlining training and technical guidance for government officials, civil servants, organizations and individuals involved in mineral resource management and activities.

At the event, a representative from the Vietnam Department of Geology and Minerals outlined the key updates of the Geology and Minerals Law, and clarified regulations directly impacting businesses, such as the management of Group 4 minerals and the process for approving mineral recovery registrations under the jurisdiction of commune-level People’s Committees.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment called on relevant departments, agencies, and commune- and ward-level authorities to take the initiative in studying and implementing the law and its guiding documents within their areas of responsibility. They also urged mineral extraction enterprises to update, review, and strictly comply with the new regulations governing their production and business operations. These efforts aim to enhance the effectiveness of state management in geology and mineral resources, while helping businesses and local authorities stay up to date with legal developments, thereby supporting sustainable socio-economic development.
