Through studying, engaging in volunteer work and performing arts for the community, young people are nurturing pride and affirming the pioneering and creative role of youth in the new era.

The spirit of history passed on

In the atmosphere of the whole nation looking forward to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), Youth Union members in Tam Hiep Ward organized the flag-raising ceremony “I Love My Fatherland” at the Long Bình Commando Victory Monument, with the participation of more than 250 Youth Union members and young people in the area. The solemn moment left a deep impression on the young generation. The resonant singing of the National Anthem in the vast open space not only evoked memories of the nation’s heroic years, but also awakened a strong sense of responsibility in each individual.

Bui Ngoc Quynh Như, a student of class 7A8, a member of the Inter-Chapter of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers’ Organization (HYPO) of the Pedagogical Practice School under Dong Nai University (Tam Hiep Ward), shared: “Whenever I look up at the red flag with the yellow star flying high and sing the National Anthem, I feel an indescribable pride in my heart. I think I must study hard so that one day I can contribute to building my homeland. That is also my way of expressing gratitude to the generations before us who sacrificed for the nation’s independence and freedom.”

Not only the Youth Union members and the youth in Tam Hiep Ward, but young people across 94 other communes and wards in Dong Nai Province have also simultaneously organized the “I Love My Fatherland” flag-raising ceremony at historical, cultural sites and local landmarks. Alongside these solemn activities, Dong Nai youth continue to carry forward the revolutionary spirit through concrete actions such as participating in environmental protection programs, running Zero-dong stalls and Loving meals, as well as implementing youth-led projects. Though modest, these efforts clearly demonstrate the continuation of the tradition: “Wherever youth are needed, they will be there; whatever is difficult, youth will take it on.”

According to Bui Thi Khanh Linh, Secretary of the Youth Union in Tran Bien Ward, the variety of activities not only provide the Youth Union members and young people with valuable real-life experiences, but also help them feel more deeply the significance and heroic spirit of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). From this, they nurture greater awareness of preserving and promoting the historical and cultural values of the nation.

Spreading revolutionary values through art

Beyond traditional educational activities, young artists in Dong Nai are choosing art as a bridge to bring historical stories closer to the public. From introducing new music videos, staging cultural and theatrical performances, cải lương excerpts, to painting, and producing digital clips for online platforms, these efforts vividly and accessibly recreate the spirit of the August Revolution.

The Dong Nai Music and Arts Club has become a gathering place for young students across the province to create, perform, and spread positive messages through art. To mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, the club has organized performances featuring patriotic songs, raised funds for charity, awarded scholarships to students of the provincial Blind Association, and supported the Cuban people in response to a call from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

Phan Thanh Tuan, Head of the Dong Nai Music and Arts Club, shared: “What we aim for is not only organizing stage performances, but also ‘sowing’ in young people’s hearts a sense of pride and responsibility for their homeland and country. Through music, art, and volunteer activities, the club hopes to create an environment where students can freely explore their creativity while also learning how to share and accompany the community.”

For young artist Khanh Đan, a member of the Dong Nai Don Ca Tai Tu (Southern folk music) Club (under the Dong Nai Center for Culture and Cinema), bringing traditional music closer to young audiences during this historic August is also a way to spread the revolutionary spirit. She believes that the simple, yet soulful melodies of Don Ca Tai Tu not only reflect the soul of the Southern people in general, Dong Nai in particular, but also convey love for the homeland and the desire to rise up. Notably, on her personal Facebook page, she frequently shares new neo-classical MVs, making traditional art more accessible to audiences both within and beyond the province.

“Along with producing music videos, I also join fellow club members on numerous tours across communes and wards in the province, performing free shows for local residents. This is our way, as young artists, to keep the flame of artistic passion alive and to spread traditional culture within the community,” Khanh Đan shared.

“To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, our unit will organize a series of cultural activities, exhibitions, visual propaganda, and mobile film screenings. The highlight of which is the Dong Nai Province Youth Melody Contest 2025 for youth and children aged 5-15, taking place from August 27 to 29.”

It can be seen that the spirit of the August Revolution is not only recalled during commemorative ceremonies, but is also being kept alive through concrete actions in studying, working, volunteering, and even in cultural and artistic endeavors. That spirit has become a source of motivation for the younger generation, instilling pride and confidence as they stride forward to build the homeland and the nation in a new era - an era of national rise and renewal.
