In recent days, the training forces assigned to serve the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 (Mission A80) have been diligently engaged in training, making every effort to ensure the best preparation for the forthcoming grand celebration.

Recording the training atmosphere of the Artillery Bloc and some other forces at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Hanoi City shows that, overcoming all the harsh weather conditions, officers and soldiers on duty at A80 are striving to achieve many good results in training.

PROUD OF TRADITION

On the autumn days of August, the weather at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park blazes with scorching sunlight; the asphalt and concrete roads of the training area are hot and stuffy. The High-Tech Park has just been built, so there are not many trees, which makes the heat even more intense. The harsh weather cannot stop the decisive and strong steps of the artillery soldiers and the forces practicing in training here. Talking about overcoming difficulties so that the troops can practice with peace of mind, Colonel Bui Anh Tuan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Artillery Corps (Ministry of National Defense) emphasized: One of the consistent factors is that the officers and soldiers of the Artillery Corps in particular, and the units in the entire army in general, all clearly understand their tasks, and are especially proud of the traditions of the unit, the branch, and the heroic army.

Colonel Bui Anh Tuan has long-standing experience in training and supporting training missions, from Mission A70 (the 70th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory), Mission A50 (the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification), to the current Mission A80.

“During the training process, the “ Determined-to-fight-and-win” tradition of our army or the tradition of “Bronze feet, iron shoulder, good combat, accurate shooting” of the Artillery Corps and the traditions of many other units in the entire army have helped officers and soldiers feel proud and determined to overcome difficulties. Their pride in tradition has helped units create many ways to support officers and soldiers to reduce difficulties and feel secure in training” - Colonel Bui Anh Tuan shared.

In fact, around the Artillery Soldiers' training area are many canopies, resting huts with a misting system to cool down the heat and provide timely medical care when officers and soldiers are tired during training. This system has been inspected, surveyed and evaluated by the General Department of Logistics and Technology and many working groups as a useful innovative solution to help soldiers practice with peace of mind.

This solution has also been applied and organized by other training units at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park complex to help mitigate the severe weather conditions. Thanks to this system, throughout more than two consecutive months of training at the site, officers and soldiers of the Artillery Corps have consistently maintained good health, sustained high-intensity training, and achieved commendable results - most notably, with no cases of heatstroke or heat-related illness.

Soldier Tran Ngoc Nhu Linh, from the Artillery Brigade 675, belonging to the Artillery Corps, shared: “We, the Artillery Unit, always take pride in the tradition of “Bronze feet, iron shoulder, good combat, accurate shooting” of the Artillery Corps, as well as the tradition of ‘Heroic, Creative, United in Coordination, Highly Mobile, and Certain to Win’ of our brigade that has been twice awarded the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title. With this spirit, we are always determined to overcome every difficulty and hardship, striving wholeheartedly toward the grand celebration.”

MARKS OF OVERCOMING HARDSHIP

According to Colonel Bui Anh Tuan, the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park complex serves as the training hub for nine contingents of soldiers: four marching contingents and five standing contingents, drawn from Military Regions 1 and 2, as well as from the Artillery and Armored Corps. Among these, the Artillery Corps has been entrusted with the role of lead unit at this training site.

“Promoting the role of the cluster leader, the Artillery Bloc is always proud of its tradition, highly determined, practices well, and makes efforts to prepare for the big festival. Through 4 times of the cluster sports festival, the Artillery Bloc has always been highly appreciated by the School's Military Training Department (General Staff) and other units. In the first comprehensive training, the Artillery Bloc was directly commended by General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense, as one of the 3 excellent groups (including: Artillery, Airborne Special Forces, Special Forces) out of more than 40 comprehensive training groups. At the same time, the unit was also commended for its innovative measures to prevent heatstroke, ensure food safety, and maintain the good health of its troops,” Colonel Bui Anh Tuan noted.

The second phase of training, from early June to August 26, 2025, is the period of concentrated, joint rehearsals. Marching contingents are being trained at several venues, including the National Military Training Center 4 (TB4), Vietnam National University, Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hoa Lac Airfield, and the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism. Joint rehearsals are organized into three clusters: Cluster 1 at TB4, Cluster 2 at Vietnam National University, and Cluster 3 at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism. The combined rehearsals of the armed forces are being held at TB4 and Ba Dinh Square.

Directly involved in the training of the Artillery Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Khuong, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Artillery Brigade 675, remarked: “The greatest advantage for the Artillery Unit in particular, as well as for the contingents training at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park complex, is the constant attention and encouragement from leaders at all levels, who always listen and promptly address legitimate proposals and recommendations in support of the mission. Throughout the training process, officers and soldiers have also received the warm affection and respect of the local people, which has further strengthened their pride in tradition and bolstered their determination to overcome hardships and challenges, fulfilling their tasks to the highest standard.”

After traveling nearly 2,000 kilometers to join the training for the great celebration, Captain Le Van Hanh, Deputy Commander of Company 7, Battalion 3, Artillery Brigade 96 (based in Dong Nai under the Artillery Corps), shared: “I am honored and proud to once again be selected to participate in training for Mission A80. This time, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Artillery Unit - a heavier task, yet whenever I think of the image of the marching column advancing amidst the people, all fatigue disappears.”

It is not only Captain Le Van Hanh but the entire Artillery Unit, together with the forces training at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park complex and other training sites, have also firmly embraced the spirit of determination to overcome every challenge and to excel in their mission for the grand celebration. For the officers and soldiers preparing for Mission A80, each step they will take across Ba Dinh Square on September 2 is a step of national pride, a manifestation of resilience, and a living symbol of the patriotic spirit and unity of the Vietnamese people - steps that stride forward with strength and confidence into a new era of national development.
