Promoting the political and spiritual strength of the August Revolution in the new era

On the morning of August 7 in Hanoi, the Political Officer School (Ministry of National Defense), in coordination with the Department of Propaganda and Training (under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) and the People's Army Newspaper, hosted a scientific seminar titled: "The Spiritual and Political Strength of the August 1945 Revolution – Its Significance for the Cause of Building and Defending the Socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the New Era."

Comrades Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc, Director of the Department of Propaganda and Training under the General Department of Politics; Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Thanh Han, Rector of the Political Officer School; Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper; and Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Ky, Vice Rector of the Political Officer School co-chaired the workshop.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc, Director of the Department of Propaganda and Training, General Department of Politics, emphasized: The August Revolution of 1945 was a great event, a brilliant milestone in the glorious history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people. The victory of the August Revolution was not only a simple political event, but also the crystallization of a long and arduous struggle, the pinnacle of a national liberation revolution following the path of proletarian revolution. It was a victory of the intelligence, bravery, and skillful leadership of our Party, headed by President Ho Chi Minh. The Party correctly assessed the world and domestic situation, seizing the once-in-a-thousand-years "golden opportunity" to launch a general uprising to seize power.

The August Revolution marked a monumental turning point for the Vietnamese nation, enabling our people to become masters of the country, of society, and of their destiny, and ushering our nation into a new era, an era of independence, freedom, and socialism.

Eighty years have passed, yet the stature, significance, and historical lessons of the August Revolution remain fully relevant, especially for today's cause of national construction and defense.

"In that context, looking back and promoting the political and spiritual strength of the August Revolution in 1945 is not only a historical gratitude, but also an urgent practical requirement. That political and spiritual strength is the endogenous resource of the Vietnamese nation and people, the foundation for us to overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully build and firmly protect the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc affirmed.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc stated that the scientific seminar themed "The Political and Spiritual Strength of the August Revolution of 1945 – Its Significance for the Cause of Building and Defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the New Era" is part of a series of propaganda activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day, September 2.

The seminar aims to clarify both theoretical and practical issues; draw out the significance and lessons learned; and propose directions and solutions for applying the political and spiritual strength of the August Revolution of 1945 to the ongoing cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the new era.
