Across hamlets and neighborhoods throughout the province, this movement is increasingly taking root, clearly reflected in practical initiatives such as building a civilized lifestyle, cultural families, cultural neighborhoods, organizing art and sports clubs,… These activities create space to strengthen community cohesion.
Grassroots culture - Community-based vitality
The Long Thanh Poetry Club, based in Long Thanh Commune, is one of the province’s cultural highlights, attracting many senior members from Long Phuoc, Phuoc Thai, and Long Đuc communes. Through monthly gatherings, the club becomes a useful spiritual playground for members to exchange and share their love of poetry, through poems written by themselves about their homeland, country, and the beauty of everyday life.
The head of Long Thanh Poetry Club, Do Van Mai noted that 2025 marks the 11th anniversary of the Club. To date, the Club has published 3 poetry collections. The valuable thing is that the Club maintains regular activities, and each gathering takes place in a friendly, heartfelt atmosphere. Everyone comes to poetry in a voluntary spirit, with love and joy of sharing. They desire to preserve cultural beauty and spread inspiration to the younger generation.
Beyond poetry, other clubs dedicated to Don Ca Tai Tu, Quan Ho folk songs, Xam singing, Then singing and Tinh lute, as well as yoga, martial arts, badminton, and table tennis, are enjoying a revival in many wards and communes, including Bien Hoa, Dong Xoai, Loc Ninh, Trang Bom, Thanh Son, Dong Tam... These grassroots cultural models contribute to creating conditions for all ages to practice and develop both physically and mentally.
Tran Thi Sau, a member of the Traditional Folk Song Club in Long Hưng Ward, shared: "As a worker, I joined the club to find joy after work. Performing Quan Ho and Xam singing melodies allows me to express my emotions, feel relaxed, and take pride in preserving our cultural heritage.
According to Phan Hoang Vinh, Party cell Secretary of Nam Do Hamlet in Dong Tam Commune, building grassroots cultural life starts with simple, close-to-home efforts such as encouraging residents to maintain environmental hygiene, practice civility in weddings, funerals, and festivals, build cultural families... From this foundation, movements can spread. As a result, community activities at local cultural houses have become increasingly lively, fostering neighborly bonds and strengthening residents’ awareness of heritage preservation.
On August 4, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Document No. 577/SVHTTDL-VH to commune and ward People’s Committees, providing guidelines for implementing the “All People Unite to Build Cultural Life” movement and organizing activities at grassroots cultural and sports facilities. In particular, for 2025, Dong Nai will intensify propaganda for the movement and expand cultural and sports programs to attract greater public participation. This effort aims to effectively implement the province’s two-tier local government model and improve residents’ cultural and spiritual life.
Fostering a healthy cultural environment
In practice, grassroots cultural life in Dong Nai is being strengthened from within communities. In particular, a blend of traditional and modern cultural elements is opening new directions for the development of grassroots cultural life. Many localities now apply technology to organize online arts and sports events, attracting broad public participation.

Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thi Ngoc Loan emphasized that building a grassroots cultural life is not only associated with preserving identity, but also contributes to creating a healthy cultural environment - an essential factor in promoting socio-economic development and international integration. Therefore, in the coming time, the sector will continue to focus on building and perfecting standards sets on cultural environments in families, schools, communities, agencies, businesses,… forming ethical standards and behaviors appropriate to the context of modern society.
“We will continue to promote civilized conduct, especially in the online environment. Enhancing people’s central role in building cultural life through mobilizing the community to eliminate outdated customs, fostering progressive cultural practices in weddings, funerals, and festivals. The quality of cultural campaigns and movements will be improved to achieve broader, deeper community impact. All efforts serve the shared goal of building and developing a comprehensive culture and people of Dong Nai.” Le Thi Ngoc Loan emphasized.
