On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, the family of Pham Thi Huyen Nhung (in Phuoc An commune, Dong Nai province) is celebrating National Day for the first time in their new, solid home. To build the house, the local authorities mobilized 80 million VND in support; while Nhung’s family and neighbors contributed labor and resources.

Nhung’s family is among 1,850 families of revolutionary contributors, poor households, and other disadvantaged cases in Dong Nai who received support to build or repair houses, enabling them to reunite with family members in a new home during this year’s National Day.

Joining hands to build the dream home

In Dong Nai, a common approach in building and repairing houses for families with meritorious service, poor households, and other disadvantaged cases according to regulations is that the provincial government combines initial support with the “Three on-the-spot” model, including the family, relatives, and the residential community. Thanks to this, the value of each house upon completion is always higher than the initial support, especially those carried out under the Program to Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Dong Nai province in 2025.

Specifically, the financial support for building houses for poor households, other difficult cases, and families of revolutionary contributors is from 80 million to 120 million VND each. However, the value of each house upon completion is always from 100 to over 200 million VND.

Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Tan Duc said: This result comes from the fact that during the construction and repair process, the province called on the entire society to join hands in creating housing for policy families, those of revolutionary contributors, and the poor with the motto: give what you can, those who have little give little, those who have much give much; those with resources contribute resources, those with labor contribute labor.”

As a result, people from all walks of life have actively contributed labor and resources to complete 1,850 solid houses with a total budget of nearly 134 billion VND. Of this figure, more than 117 billion VND came from mobilized resources, while the rest from family contributions and part of the state budget.

Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of KN Holdings Corporation Joint Stock Company (Phuoc Tan ward) Le Nu Thuy Duong shared: In recent times, the unit has joined hands with Dong Nai province to implement social welfare programs. Since the beginning of 2025 alone, the group has donated 55 billion VND to support the construction and repair of solid houses.

In addition, commune-level authorities have actively connected on-site resources. At the same time, each beneficiary family contributed to the process of building their solid home.

This September, Ho Hoang Son, a resident living under extremely difficult circumstances in Ta Lai commune, can celebrate the National Day in a solid house. The sponsor provided 80 million VND for construction; the locality mobilized building materials and household appliances, while neighbors helped transport soil and stones to level the foundation free of charge. Thanks to this, Son’s house, once completed, was valued at over 100 million VND.

The joy of National Day comes to every family

Thanks to social welfare policies, community support, and the proactive spirit of each household, the joy of this year’s National Day, September 2, is even more meaningful for every family receiving a solid home.

Representatives of provincial departments, sponsors, and coach Park Hang-seo attend the ceremony of handing over a solid house to the family of Tho Thoai, an ethnic Choro (living in Xuan Que commune).

Tho Thoai’s four-member family (Ethnic Choro from Xuan Que commune) moved into their new home on August 18, 2025. Tho Thoai shared: “The house is located deep among melaleuca and rubber gardens and far from neighbors, with a dirt road leading to it that is very hard to travel. Even so, local authorities and sponsors came many times to supervise construction and celebrate with our family on the day of housing handover. This is a great joy for my family on the occasion of this year’s National Day.”

Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan Que commune, Bui Thi Hai Ly said: Thoai’s house had a construction cost of more than 200 million VND, of which 120 million VND was mobilized by provincial departments from enterprises, while the rest contributed by the family and relatives. In addition, when neighbors learned that Thoai was building a house, they also donated household appliances and food.

The former Binh Phuoc province and the former Dong Nai province completed the Program to Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in April 2025 and in June 2025, respectively, 6 and 4 months earlier than the Prime Minister’s regulations. At the same time, the province also supported Son La province with 119 billion VND to implement the program.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Phuoc (living in Tan Phu commune) shared: The family of four often struggled because both spouses were frequently sick, while their two children were still small. The couple took on jobs as required by employers, but due to illness, they had more days off than working days. Therefore, when they received a new house, the family was extremely happy as their dream of a stable house finally came true, and this is a motivation for the whole family to strive for a better life.

To continue bringing the joy of settlement to families of revolutionary contributors, poor households, and other disadvantaged cases, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Vo Tan Duc said: In the coming time, departments, branches, and localities will continue to review to ensure no case in need of support for solid housing construction or repair is overlooked; mobilize all resources to implement poverty reduction programs, including solid housing construction. Beneficiaries of poverty reduction policies must also have the determination to improve their lives through self-reliance.
