Improving workers’ legal awareness

Dong Nai is a province densely inhabited by workers and employees, so the task of propaganda, dissemination of policies and laws among workers and laborers is becoming increasingly important. This is not only a regular task of all levels of the Trade Union, but also one of the key solutions to building a strong working class that meets the requirements of the integration period.

Applying social networks in propaganda

Permanent Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai provincial Labor Federation Bui Thi Bich Thuy said: In recent years, Trade Unions at all levels in the province have promoted propagation and dissemination to help raise political and legal awareness among Union members and workers. At the same time, they have provided information orientation, promptly corrected misconceptions, and combated wrongful views and actions among workers and employees. The implementation and dissemination of the Party’s guidelines and State policies and laws through multiple channels have created positive effects among workers and employees.

Along with traditional methods, many grassroots Trade Unions at enterprises have applied digital technology to bring propaganda content closer to workers and employees. The Trade Union fanpages, Zalo, and TikTok have become bridges to quickly and promptly provide official information, contributing to orienting public opinion, preventing fake and harmful news from entering industrial zones and enterprises, and stabilizing the mindset of workers and employees at the workplaces.

At Pou Sung Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Vien commune, Dong Nai province), with a workforce of over 3,000 people, besides organizing direct propaganda sessions, the grassroots Trade Union has created a Facebook page to deliver useful daily information on company policies, activities, and charity movements to workers and employees quickly and effectively. In addition, the grassroots Trade Union uses this channel to organize online contests to raise workers’ awareness about the Law on Social Insurance, labor law, traffic safety, and more.

Le Thi Ha, a worker at the sole workshop of Pou Sung Vietnam Co., Ltd., said: Because her work requires most of her time in the workshop, she rarely participates in direct propaganda sessions. However, since following updates posted on the grassroots Trade Union’s Facebook page, many useful contents help her better understand her rights and obligations, especially in the areas of insurance, wages, and occupational safety.

“When we understand the law, we feel more confident at work and know about emulation movements to participate in, and improve our work performance” - Ha shared.

At many enterprises, grassroots Trade Unions apply digital transformation in propaganda among workers and employees.

Pham Trung Thuyen, Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union at Vedan Vietnam Enterprise Co., Ltd. (Phuoc Thai commune), said: Promoting propaganda plays an important role in orienting correct ideological work in compliance with labor law in the production process of workers and employees. In addition, the employees improve their awareness to stay alert against social evils and “black credit,” ensuring security and order.

With the motto “focusing strongly on the grassroots,” Dong Nai Trade Union stated that it’s necessary to continue to innovate propaganda work intensively and extensively, so that workers and employees increasingly trust in the leadership of the Party, the state, and local authorities, feel secure to work, stabilize their lives, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province.

According to Pham Trung Thuyen, from the actual production situation at enterprises, the Trade Union has adjusted propaganda content and methods appropriately. In addition to mass propaganda sessions, the Grassroots Trade Union disseminates information through bulletin boards and posters installed at company gates and workplaces. Along with this, internal broadcasting activities provide content about security and order, traffic safety, environmental protection, fire prevention, and knowledge on building happy families for workers and employees.

Propaganda and dissemination of laws and life skills organized by Trade Unions are gradually becoming a familiar “spiritual meal” for workers and employees. These propaganda sessions help workers better understand their rights and obligations and practice civilized behavior at workplaces. As a result, violations of regulations and occupational safety have clearly decreased, while many workers proactively propose technical innovation initiatives, helping save costs for enterprises.

Raising workers’ awareness

According to the provincial Labor Federation, since 2018, the unit has coordinated with departments and sectors to directly organize more than 350 training classes, providing dissemination for over 35,000 workers and employees in enterprises across the area. In addition, it has organized online law contests and workers’ rendezvour program, attracting hundreds of thousands of Union members to participate in. Especially, through thematic activities, seminars, and direct training with persuasive content, a positive change has been created among workers and emloyees.

Tran Thi Hanh, a worker at Vina Co., Ltd. (Phuoc Tan ward), shared: “When participating in the propaganda sessions organized by the Trade Union at the workshop, with illustrated leaflets, I understood my rights more clearly, especially maternity and sick leave benefits. Now I feel confident to discuss with managers when issues related to labor law arise.”

From the above-mentioned positive feedback, it can be seen that the propaganda work of the Trade Union organization is truly becoming part of the workers’ daily lives. The closeness, understandability, and relevance to actual needs are the factors that help this activity spread and create long-term effectiveness. However, according to Trade Union officials, for the task of propaganda to achieve sustainable effectiveness, close coordination between the Trade Union organization, employees, and employers is needed.

At the working session with Dong Nai Trade Union to evaluate the political, ideological, and legal propaganda and education for workers and employees in July 2025, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong emphasized: After the provincial merger, Dong Nai is a locality with many industrial zones and a large concentration of workers and employees. Therefore, understanding and guiding workers’ mindset is very important, which contributes to ensuring local security and order. The Trade Unions at all levels in the province need to continue promoting good models and effective practices in strengthening propaganda among workers and employees.
