On the morning of August 19, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Dau Giay – Tan Phu Expressway Investment and Construction Project (Phase 1) took place at Dau Giay Commune, Dong Nai Province. Attending the ceremony was Bui Quang Thai, Director of the Department for Roads of Vietnam (Ministry of Transport).
Representing Dong Nai Province were Huynh Thi Hang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai Province; Dang Minh Nguyet, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People’s Council of Long Khanh Ward, together with leaders of departments, agencies, and localities across the province.

This project is one of eight key projects selected by Dong Nai Province for commencement or inauguration in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

The Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway is the initial section of the Dau Giay - Lien Khuong Expressway, with a total length of over 60 km. The starting point is at Km0+000, the intersection with National Highway 1, connecting with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, in Dau Giay Commune; the endpoint is at Km60+243.83, at the interchange with National Highway 20, connecting with the Tan Phu - Bao Loc Expressway Project, in Phu Lam Commune.

According to the investor, the project is implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with a BOT (Build - Operate - Transfer) contract, with a total investment of nearly 8.5 trillion VND. It is designed in accordance with expressway standard class 100, with a design speed of 100 km/h and four lanes.
In Phase 1, the roadbed will be 17m wide; however, at sections with soft soil treatment, high embankments or deep cuts, interchanges, emergency stops, and bridges, the construction will follow the completed-phase design with a roadbed width of nearly 25m. Construction duration is expected to be 24 months.

Speaking at the event, Bui Quang Thai, Director of the Department for Roads of Vietnam (Ministry of Transport) emphasized that this expressway plays a vital role in the expressway network, directly connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai and Lam Dong, boosting socio-economic development in Dong Nai and the Southeast region, as well as fostering regional cooperation and integration with the Southeast, Mekong Delta, Central Highlands, and South Central regions.

On behalf of the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai Province Nguyen Tuan Anh emphasized: The Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway Project has a particularly important role and significance for Dong Nai Province. This project helps enhance traffic connectivity between Dong Nai Province and the Central Highlands and the Southeast regions; shorten travel time, share and reduce pressure on National Highway 20, connect the Southeast region with the Central Highlands region, and open a new development corridor for the area east of National Highway 20. At the same time, it creates conditions for socio-economic development, ensures defense and security for Dong Nai Province in particular and the Southeast and Central Highlands regions in general.

Nguyen Tuan Anh called on the consortium of investors and project stakeholders to instruct contractors to mobilize maximum resources and machinery, ensure safe, high-quality, and on-schedule construction, and strictly comply with technical requirements and environmental protection. Supervising consultants must rigorously control quality, progress, and occupational safety. He also urged stakeholders to promote digital transformation in construction management and acceptance testing to enhance project quality.
