From an 80-year tradition…
What significance does the 80-year milestone hold for the formation and development of Dong Nai’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Sector?
- 80 years is not a long journey compared to the nation’s culture, which has been built and nurtured over several thousand years of history, but it is a journey full of glory and pride. This milestone provides an opportunity for the sector to review its formation and development, summarize and acknowledge the significant achievements, and assess the remaining difficulties and limitations. Based on this, the sector can clearly identify key tasks and breakthrough solutions to continue to develop more strongly, bringing the cultural career into a new era.
During that journey, what are the most notable achievements that Dong Nai’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Sector has attained?
- In the fields of culture, physical education and sports, tourism, press and publishing, and family affairs, the sector has achieved many important achievements, creating distinct cultural marks. Notably, the work of preserving and promoting cultural values is always given attention. The system of tangible and intangible cultural heritage is rich, with diverse forms and widely distributed across all 95 communes and wards. Cultural and sports institutions generally meet the requirements of serving political tasks and serving the people’s demand for cultural and spiritual enjoyment.
The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" has been widely implemented, annually meeting and exceeding the targets set by the Provincial Party Committee’s resolutions. Dong Nai’s high-performance sports have achieved notable results in international competitions in disciplines such as bodybuilding, sepak takraw, chess, badminton, etc. Notably, the sector has mobilized over VND 3 trillion of capital from businesses to invest in developing areas, spots and accommodation facilities to enhance tourism.
Currently, the province has 31 tourism areas and spots. In August 2025 alone, the number of visitors to Dong Nai is estimated to reach 639 thousand, generating VND 520.64 billion in tourism service revenue. Cumulatively over the first eight months of 2025, the province welcomed more than 5 million visitors, with tourism service revenue reaching VND 3,295.70 billion.
What key factors have enabled the culture, sports, and tourism sector to build a sustainable foundation to fulfill its tasks and meet the people’s demand for cultural and spiritual enjoyment?
- These achievements have been resulted from the thorough and comprehensive guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, and the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; the support and coordination of departments, agencies, mass organizations, and the Party Committees and People’s Committees of communes and wards; as well as the efforts, sense of responsibility, and dedication of the entire workforce of officials, civil servants, and employees across the sector. In addition, the sector has received the consensus and support of people from various social strata, the business community, and those working in culture, arts, media, sports, and tourism. This has created great strength, fostering a sense of togetherness in heart and mind in the cause of building and developing the culture and people of Dong Nai comprehensively.
Improving cultural life for people in the new period
Two months have passed since the provincial merger, what activities has Dong Nai’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Sector been implementing to maximize effectiveness, especially in serving people in remote areas and industrial park workers?
- The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has issued a document guiding the implementation of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" and cultural and sports institutions in communes and wards. The department has proposed that the Provincial People's Committee retain the following institutions: libraries, museums, training and sports competition centers in Binh Phuoc ward to serve as satellite facilities to continue serving the people's need for cultural enjoyment and sports training.
At present, the units under the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism have supplemented their plans, targets, and tasks for timely implementation. Activities range from organizing book rotations, art performances, mobile film screenings to exhibitions, sports competitions, etc. These efforts contribute to serving the people, particularly in mountainous areas, remote and border regions, ethnic minority communities, workers in concentrated industrial parks, export processing zones, and schools.
Dong Nai currently has 9 provincial-level cultural institutions, 5 sports institutions meeting the requirements for organizing national competitions and 22 sports facilities meeting the requirements for organizing provincial-level competitions. The province has also equipped and installed more than 2,000 public sports training equipment in communes and wards, meeting the people’s needs for exercise, health improvement, and spiritual well-being.
To ensure equal access for all residents to cultural, sports, and tourism activities, what innovations has the industry made in organizing and implementing these activities?
- Dong Nai is a province with a large area and a dense population. Therefore, cultural, sports and tourism sector always places importance on ensuring that all citizens have access to activities organized by the sector. In recent times, the sector has been promoting the application of technology in cultural, sports, and tourism activities to achieve the highest efficiency and broaden their impact within the community. In particular, the sector has organized various digital exhibitions, introduced QR codes for books and heritage sites, offered 360-degree virtual tours of monuments, and livestreamed art programs on social media. Thanks to these efforts, local residents, especially those in remote areas, can easily access and enjoy cultural and artistic values without being limited by geographical distance.

Could you share more about the key tasks that the sector will focus on in the coming time to further enhance the cultural and spiritual life of the people?
- Building on the 80-year tradition, the sector will continue to advise the Provincial Party Committee and the provincial People’s Committee in formulating and implementing resolutions and plans for cultural, sports, and tourism development. It will diversify cultural and sports activities to serve political tasks and public demand, while continuing to prioritize bringing cultural programs to grassroots levels, especially to border communes, former revolutionary bases, and ethnic minority areas. In addition, the sector will mobilize resources to develop key cultural projects, with a particular focus on the restoration and preservation of significant historical and cultural sites in the province to educate younger generations on revolutionary traditions. It will also promote international exchange, cooperation and integration, while promoting the image of Dong Nai culture and people to domestic and international friends.
