Practice safe traffic habits

On the morning of August 16, at Nguyen Du High School (Binh Phuoc Ward), the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of Dong Nai Province jointly organized the Dong Nai Youth Day to model traffic culture in 2025, attracting more than 300 union members and young people to participate. This endeavor is a highlight activity to promote the spirit of vanguard and volunteerism of young people in building a civilized and safe traffic culture.

The festival offers a variety of practical and engaging activities closely tied to young people's daily lives. Youth Union members receive training in safe driving techniques, take part in interactive booths to learn about traffic laws, and enjoy free vehicle oil checks and changes. They also participate enthusiastically in the Traffic Safety Competition. These activities provide a dynamic and accessible way for young people to gain legal knowledge while developing real-life traffic safety skills.

During the upcoming September 2 holiday, traffic police will work in coordination with youth volunteers to guide and manage traffic, helping ensure safety and smooth travel for the public throughout the break.

Under the theme "Dong Nai Youth Respect the Law – Build a Safe Traffic Culture, Create the Future," the program aims to raise awareness, promote safe traffic habits, and contribute to reducing traffic accidents. It also serves as a chance to inspire a sense of responsibility and legal consciousness among young people, encouraging them to uphold the law and promote positive traffic culture within the community.

Additionally, during major holidays such as April 30 and May 1, the Dong Nai Youth Union has organized volunteer teams to distribute free bottled water, cold towels, and masks to residents in the locality, drivers, and tourists along key routes. The image of green-shirted Youth Union members standing in the sun to offer support, hand out water, and direct traffic has left a lasting impression on the public.

Scaling up effective models

Mr. Le Nguyen Minh Tri, Deputy Head of the Youth Union and Youth Affairs Department, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province, shared: "Dong Nai Youth Festival with Traffic Culture is one of the annual activities jointly organized by the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of the province. This is also the key content in the annual work program of the Union, aiming to educate, orient and foster awareness of traffic law compliance among young people, while raising awareness of current legal regulations related to traffic safety".

In addition, Youth Unions and Associations at all levels have organized a wide range of activities aimed at promoting traffic safety. Notably, they have established and maintained support clubs to assist the public and ensure traffic safety along National Highways 1, 20, and 51, as well as youth volunteer teams for first aid and rapid response to traffic accidents.

At the same time, schools and localities have effectively upheld models such as the Traffic Safety School Gate, safe road and railway intersections, Safe Routes - Youth Self-Management, and Lighting Up Alleys. These initiatives have helped raise awareness and bring about a meaningful shift in attitudes and behavior among young people when participating in traffic, contributing to a gradual decline in traffic accidents, fatalities, and injuries involving youth.

"In the time ahead, we will focus on implementing and expanding the People Support and Traffic Safety Club model. In particular, we plan to establish new clubs in areas of the former Binh Phuoc province where the model has not yet been introduced," Nguyen Minh Tri added.

According to the Traffic Police Department of Dong Nai Province, in preparation for the upcoming National Day holiday on September 2, the department's Youth Union and volunteer youth forces will continue to be mobilized across the region. Thousands of bottles of mineral water, cold towels, and other essential items will be prepared for free distribution by Youth Union members at key traffic checkpoints and gateways to the province, supporting people on their journey home for the holiday.
