(ĐN)- Dong Nai plans to build nearly 9,900 social houses to meet the housing needs of low-income individuals. This is a significant number compared to the 1,700 units completed since the beginning of the 2021 term. The plan focuses on four localities: Nhơn Trạch, Long Thành, Biên Hòa, and Trảng Bom.
The slow progress has been attributed to legal obstacles in investment selection and project approval procedures. However, with legal issues now resolved, 10 to 17 new projects are expected to be launched in 2025. Some notable projects already underway include an apartment complex for workers in Trảng Bom and a social housing project in Phước Tân (Biên Hòa).
The province aims to accelerate legal procedures, support investors, and ensure construction quality while integrating social housing areas with transportation, healthcare, and education infrastructure. The Department of Construction has proposed that the provincial People's Committee prioritize support policies, resolve investment selection and bidding obstacles, and allow commercial housing developers to implement social housing on 20% of their land allocation. The provincial chairman has urged agencies and localities to coordinate closely to ensure progress, contributing to the completion of the 10,000-unit social housing target for the 2021-2025 period.
