(ĐN)- More than 200 overseas Vietnamese (OV) and their relatives gathered on January 27 to attend a 2016 Lunar New Year festival get-together held by Dong Nai province's authorities.

 

(ĐN)- More than 200 overseas Vietnamese (OV) and their relatives gathered on January 27 to attend a 2016 Lunar New Year festival get-together held by Dong Nai province’s authorities.

At the event, Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of the provincial People’s Committee inform the province’s socio-economic development in 2015 and plans for 2016, as well as Dong Nai’s preferential policies to lure investment, calling overseas Vietnamese worldwide to return home for living and increase investment.

According to the province’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Dong Nai currently has over 32,500 Vietnamese expatriates and their 17,700 relatives’ households. Many of them hold university-level and postgraduate-level degrees.

Every year, Dong Nai welcomes 25,000 Vietnamese expatriates who come back home for family reunions, investment, taking part in social charity activities, etc. Statistics showed that overseas Vietnamese had sent home, Dong Nai province, around US$3.4 million between 2004 and 2014.

Speaking at the meeting, the provincial leader acknowledged active contributions made by overseas Vietnamese to the province’s development over the past years and hoped that the expatriates and their relatives will be more active in popularizing Party and State policies on Vietnamese expatriates, contributing to have more overseas Vietnamese to retune home.

The province will continue to create the most favorable conditions for them to return home not only for family reunions but also for investment, he added.

On this occasion, the overseas Vietnamese toured around Garden of Celebrities’ Statues and offered incense at Tran Bien Temple of Literature.
