Khmer ethnics in Dong Nai congratulated on Chol Chnam Thmay

(ĐN)-  Recently, Dong Nai provincial Fatherland Front Committee's delegation has visited and congratulated Khmer monks and followers in Thai Hoa pagoda in Dinh Quan district and Hoa Son pagoda in Long Khanh town on their traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year festival.

(ĐN)-  Recently, Dong Nai provincial Fatherland Front Committee’s delegation has visited and congratulated Khmer monks and followers in Dinh Quan district's Thai Hoa pagoda and Long Khanh town's Hoa Son pagoda on their traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year festival.

During the visits, Vice Chairman Le Dinh Thao of the Front appreciated contributions by Khmer monks and followers to local development, social order and safety. He called upon Khmer ethnic compatriots to promote solidarity and coordinate with authorities to overcome setbacks and stabilize their lives.

Chol Chnam Thmay is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Khmer community. It usually lasts three days and is celebrated in pagodas. This year’s festival took place from April 14 to 16 (the seventh to ninth days of the third lunar month).

Earlier, on April 14, the provincial Committee for Ethnic Affairs also made a visit and extended congratulations to the Khmer community in Dinh Quan district on their traditional New Year festival.

On this occasion, the committee presented a set of musical instruments worth VND145 million to Khmer community in the locality and gave 15 gifts valued at VND500,000 each to poor Khmer households.
