(ĐN)- As many as 150 overseas Vietnamese (OVs) and their relatives gathered on January 19 to attend a 2017 Lunar New Year festival get-together held by Dong Nai province’s authorities.
The event was attended by Deputy Secretary Phan Thi My Thanh of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman Nguyen Quoc Hung of the provincial People’s Committee.

The OVs represented for nearly 5,000 Vietnamese expatriates who come back home for family reunions and enjoy Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays. According to the report, Dong Nai currently has over 32,000 Vietnamese expatriates living in many countries and territories all over the world.

At the event, Vice Chairman Nguyen Quoc Hung informed the province’s socio-economic development in 2016, especially in attracting foreign investment, exporting products, investment in infrastructure and taking care of local people’s lives as well as Dong Nai’s preferential policies to lure investment, calling overseas Vietnamese worldwide to return home for living and increase investment.

The OVs expressed their feelings on the change of the province and local authorities’ care and respect on the contributions made by OVs to their homeland. They also wished to make more contributions to the province’s development.
On this occasion, the province’s People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to many OVs and their relatives for their outstanding performance in building great unity bloc and contributions to the province’s socio-economic development over the past time. The OVs also visited exhibitions on Vietnam’s sea and islands, and specialties from across Dong Nai province and enjoyed art performances.
