A professional training course for Vietnamese teachers in Cambodia was opened in the morning of September 17 in Phnom Penh by the Vietnamese-Cambodian General Association, in order to meet the need of improving Vietnamese language teaching quality for overseas Vietnamese children in Cambodia.
The training course is lectured by the teachers from Dong Nai province.
The 15 students, who are teachers of Vietnamese language in Phnom Penh, will be instructed about methods, content and organization of educational activities; school management and professional management; and methods of composing and lecturing based on electronic lesson plans.
President of the Vietnamese-Cambodian General Association, Chau Van Chi, said that over the past years, Dong Nai province has organized many effective activities to support Vietnamese classes in Cambodia, such as donating books, notebooks, school supplies, computers and support to improve the quality of teachers.
This training course is one of the effective and practical activities of Dong Nai province to help meet the urgent need to update the knowledge and teaching skills of the Vietnamese teachers in Phnom Penh.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Kiem, Deputy Director of the Primary Education Division under the Department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province, said that the lecturers of the course are principals and vice principals of primary schools in Dong Nai province.
The lecturers of the course defined this mission as not only performing their assigned political tasks, but also an opportunity for them to express the feelings and responsibilities of Vietnamese teachers for their colleagues and overseas Vietnamese people in Cambodia for the cause of conserving cultural identity and preserving Vietnamese language among the overseas Vietnamese community.
There are more than 5,000 overseas Vietnamese children studying at Vietnamese and Cambodian teaching schools. In Phnom Penh alone, there are more than 300 primary students studying a Vietnamese-Khmer program at three schools managed by the Vietnamese-Cambodian General Association.
