(ĐN)- During the past five years, Long Khanh town’s Study Encouragement Association raised more than VND5 billion from individual donors and organizations to finance students, teachers and schools in need.
Particularly, the association has provided annual scholarships worth VND1.5 million each to 70 needy students to help them complete their university curricula, given strength to more than 53,000 students and teachers living in special difficult circumstances to learn and teach better. Moreover, it also presented over 7,000 scholarships, 100,000 notebooks, 1,500 sets of books, 2,400 school bags, clothes and 175 bicycles to local poor students.
After 11 years of operation, the association has around 7,000 members and has organized many activities to offer supports for students and minimize considerably the numbers of leaving schools early.
Over the past time, more than 10,000 families in the town have registered to become “studious families”, of which more than 7,200 families have been recognized.
