E-office software products, the technology solution which can help businesses heighten the corporate governance capability and save costs, have been launched into the market. Solution firms hope that e-office software would become familiar to businesses and organizations soon.
Surveys show that Vietnam now has 200 agencies and businesses using e-office. Meanwhile, according to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam now has 500,000 small and medium enterprises and numerous organizations which all could be the potential clients of solution firms
State owned enterprises would be first clients
Nguyen Ngoc Quy, a senior executive of the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), a powerful corporation specializing in using state’s capital to invest in enterprises, said that SCIC began utilizing e-office software in 2008
eOffice of Bkav, a well known Vietnamese information technology solution provider, was chosen by SCIC after the corporation tried three different solutions. “We need the products which not only have high quality, but also have the features that fit our management culture. They should also be convenient for upgrading and maintenance,” Quy said to explain why SCIC chose eOffice.
More than 180 officers of SCIC are using the software every day, while no breakdown has been reported over the last three years.
Sawaco, a water supply company, chose a product of VSS, also a well known solution provider.
Nguyen Tong Dang Khoa, a senior executive of Sawaco, said that he is satisfactory with the software, because it allows the enterprise to shorten procedures and reduce the time needed to take management over documents. Besides, the software allows people to work everywhere and at every time. The leadership can be updated with the enterprise’s performance and make timely decisions. Especially, Khoa said, the e-office software allows saving 30 percent of expenses.
Sawaco now has 3700 workers, but only about 400 workers have the right to access the e-office system. When asked why Sawaco chose a VSS’s solution, Khoa said that the company chose the solution because it was financially suitable to the company. It once considered two other solutions, but the expenses were higher than Sawaco could bear.
In the latest news, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Water Supply Company has also decided to choose the solution after considering the e-office model of Sawaco.
Conquering the market, step by step
To date, more than 20 brands and solution providers have joined the market, including big names like Hosco, V-Office, Q-eOffice, M-Office, Softech iOffice.
However, experts believe that only some products really have high quality, such as eOffice of Bkav, PortalOffice of VSS, WebOffice of Vietnam IT General Solution Company, and SSP-STM of the Saigon Software Company.
Of the solution firms, Bkav and VSS both launched their products into the market in 2005, and they have had over 1000 clients. VSS is better known among private enterprises, while Bkav’s main clients are state owned enterprises and institutions.
Le Thanh Nam, Director of Bkav, said that a lot of solutions are available in the e-office market which provide different features, and that enterprises need to understand themselves well to decide which software products to choose. Users have been advised to try the products first before making decision on whether to use them.
Though the big advantages of e-office software products have been recognized, it will still take a long more time to turn the products more popular in the operation of enterprises.
Pham Ngoc Truong, a senior executive of VSS, has noted that the development of the e-office market will still depend much on the determination of enterprises and institutions in utilizing information technology solutions in their operation
Previously, e-office software solutions were provided in packages. However, nowadays, in order to diversify services, solution providers are leasing software pieces. Instead of paying royalty for the product, clients can pay for different pieces within a lot of years.
Bkav’s turnover from e-office software reportedly increases by 150 percent a year, while VSS says it has some new clients every month.
