National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan left Hanoi on September 26 morning for a two-day official visit to Laos at the invitation of her Lao counterpart Pany Yathotou.
After Laos, the legislature leader will make an official visit to Cambodia from September 27-28 as guest of Cambodia’s National Assembly Chair Heng Samrin.
She will then travel to Myanmar for a visit from September 28-29 at the invitation of Chairman of Myanmar’s National Assembly Mahn Win Khaing Than.
Following the visit, the Vietnamese NA Chairwoman will attend the 37 th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Myanmar from September 29 to October 3.
The trip to Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar are the first foreign trip of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan as head of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
The visits aim at carrying out the cooperation agreements between the law making bodies of Vietnam and the countries, and promoting the exchange and experience sharing among the legislatures.
The Vietnamese NA Chairwoman’s attendance at the 37 th AIPA General Assembly demonstrates Vietnam’s policy of active and proactive international integration and is meant to contribute more to cooperation within AIPA and in the region.
