General Do Ba Ty, Phung Quoc Hien elected as NA Vice Chairs

General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence and Phung Quoc Hien, incumbent member of the NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Finance-Budget Committee have been elected as NA Vice Chairmen.

General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence and Phung Quoc Hien, incumbent member of the NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Finance-Budget Committee have been elected as NA Vice Chairmen.

On April 5, the National Assembly (NA) announced the result of the voting and adopted resolutions on electing NA Vice Chairs and members of the NA Standing Committee.

Among the valid 491 valid votes, 459 or 92.91% of the total NA deputies elected Mr Phung Quoc Hien and Do Ba Ty got 433 out of 482 valid votes or 87.95 of the total NA deputies.

Meanwhile, seven candidates were also named for election to the NA Standing Committee.

After the election, newly-elected NA Vice Chairs Do Ba Ty and Phung Quoc Hien embarked on managing sessions.

The same day, NA deputies are scheduled to discuss in groups a list of nominees for the position of Chair of the NA’s Ethnic Council and head of several NA committees, the State Auditor General, as well as pass the draft revised Press Law and the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education.
